Large Igneous Province Record Through Time and Implications for Secular Environmental Changes and Geological Time‐Scale Boundaries

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 1-26., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Evolving Sacrocolpopexy Technique Trends

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sacrocolpopexy (SCP) is widely considered the gold standard procedure for repairing apical and multi‐compartment prolapse. Despite its long‐standing and widespread use, significant technical variations persist, yet these differences have not been well‐characterized or linked to surgical outcomes.

HABITAT AND FAUNA OF DEEP-WATER LOPHELIA PERTUSA CORAL REEFS OFF THE SOUTHEASTERN US: BLAKE PLATEAU, STRAITS OF FLORIDA, AND GULF OF MEXICO. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Expeditions from 1999 to 2004 for biomedical research explored various deep-sea coral ecosystems (DSCE) off the southeastern U.S. (Blake Plateau, Straits of Florida, and eastern Gulf of Mexico).

Biogeography of the endosymbiotic dinoflagellates (Symbiodiniaceae) community associated with the brooding coral Favia gravida in the Atlantic Ocean.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Zooxanthellate corals live in symbiosis with phototrophic dinoflagellates of the family Symbiodiniaceae, enabling the host coral to dwell in shallow, nutrient-poor marine waters.

Reproductive potential of the lithodids Lithodes santolla and Paralomis granulosa (Anomura, Decapoda) in the Beagle Channel, Argentina

open access: yesScientia Marina, 1999
Lithodidae is the only group of reptant decapods that occurs in Antarctic waters and has been particularly abundant in the Beagle Channel, Straits of Magellan and south to 50º S.

Two new endemic species of Portulaca (Portulacaceae) from the Brazilian Pampa grasslands

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Portulaca L. is a monophyletic, cosmopolitan genus of succulent plants comprising ca 153 species, with particularly high diversity in xerophytic ecosystems in tropical and subtropical regions. Based on morphological evidence, we describe and illustrate two new species from the Brazilian Pampa, Portulaca guaritensis and Portulaca guenoa.

White Shark or Shortfin Mako? Lamnid sharks identification in an overlapping area of the Equatorial Southwestern Atlantic

open access: yesOcean and Coastal Research
Despite their worldwide distribution, the occurrence of Lamnidae species in tropical zones remain poorly understood. In the Equatorial Southwestern Atlantic, the Shortfin Mako, Isurus oxyrinchus, has been captured in commercial fisheries, whereas the ...

Exploring consumer preferences for wild meat and other animal proteins in Gamba, Gabon: Implications for conservation and management of natural resources alongside extractive industry

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The town of Gamba in southwest Gabon represents an exceptional example of how the development of an extractive industry (in this case oil production) may impact wild meat consumption in an area of global importance for biodiversity. Studies in the 1990s identified an active wild meat trade; however, no studies have been undertaken since, and ...

The Interplay of Homing and Dispersal in Green Turtles: A Focus on the Southwestern Atlantic [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 2012
Current understanding of spatial ecology is insufficient in many threatened marine species, failing to provide a solid basis for conservation and management. To address this issue for globally endangered green turtles, we investigated their population distribution by sequencing a mitochondrial control region segment from the Rocas Atoll courtship area (
