Isoliquiritigenin, a Strong nod Gene- and Glyceollin Resistance- Inducing Flavonoid from Soybean Root Exudate [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Isoflavonoid signal molecules from soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) seed and root exudate induce the transcription of nodulation (nod) genes in Bradyrhizobium japonicum. In this study, a new compound with symbiotic activity was isolated from soybean root

A GmeIF2B5‐GmPRX4 Regulatory Axis Divergently Governs Drought‐Lignin and Salt‐Ion Homeostasis in Soybean

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Abiotic stresses severely constrain soybean productivity worldwide. Here we demonstrate that gmeif2b5 (eukaryotic initiation factors) mutants confer dual stress tolerance through coordinated mechanisms. Integrative RNA‐Seq and protein interaction analyses revealed that gmeif2b5 mutants increase lignin deposition to increase drought resilience ...

Effect of Soybean Varieties on Survival and Fecundity of Western Corn Rootworm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The western corn rootworm, Diabrotica virgifera virgifera LeConte (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), is a major pest of corn (Zea mays L.) in North America and has evolved resistance to crop rotation by ovipositing in alternate crops such as soybeans [Glycine ...

Genomewide Selection in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Breeding: Balancing Cost and Time for Higher Genetic Gain

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In rice (Oryza sativa L.), genomewide selection and field‐based rapid generation advancement (FRGA) are two ways to increase genetic gain. Our objective was to assess genetic gains from genomewide selection coupled with FRGA in a rice breeding pipeline.

Influence of arbuscular mycorrhiza on osmotic adjustment compounds and antioxidant enzyme activity in nodules of salt-stressed soybean (Glycine max)

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2013
The influence of the colonization with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungus, Glomus mosseae (Nicolson and Gerdemann), on characteristics of growth, osmotic adjustment compounds and activity of antioxidant enzymes in nodules of salt-stressed soybean ...

Photosynthesis and Productivity of Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.]

open access: yes, 2010
The peculiarities of leaf carbon dioxide gas exchange in soybean genotypes grown in field over a largearea and contrasting in duration of vegetation, photosynthetie traits and productivity were studied.Varietal differences in the daily and ontogenetic changes in photosynthesis and photorespiration wereidentified.

ATP Sulfurylase Activity in the Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1968
ATP sulfurylase activity was assayed in soybean leaf extracts. A simple, rapid assay system using molybdate as an analogue of sulfate was developed. The assay was coupled to inorganic pyrophosphatase. The high pyrophosphatase level in soybean leaf extracts obviated the necessity of adding this enzyme to the assay system.

New Integrative Vectors Increase Agrobacterium rhizogenes Transformation and Help Characterise Roles for Soybean GmTML Gene Family Members

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hairy‐root transformation is widely used to generate transgenic plant roots for genetic functional characterisation studies. However, transformation efficiency can be limited, largely due to the use of binary vectors. Here, we report on the development of novel integrative vectors that significantly increase the transformation efficiency of ...

Effects of GmERF5-Responsive Effector on Soybean Symbiotic Nodulation

open access: yesAgronomy
The type III secretion system (T3SS) of Rhizobium plays a crucial role during the establishment of the soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.)-Rhizobium symbiosis system.
