An integrated space-based passive system for maritime operational traffic surveillance
2012 IEEE First AESS European Conference on Satellite Telecommunications (ESTEL), 2012An integrated solution for the improvement of maritime traffic safety is proposed in this paper. Satellite and terrestrial-based data sources are fused to achieve a common operational picture for situational awareness. In particular, the system is composed of: 1)passive radars making use of DVB-T, DAB, and satellite broadcast transmitters for off-shore

Geosynchronous space based radar concept development for theater surveillance
1996 IEEE Aerospace Applications Conference. Proceedings, 2002There is high military utility in a surveillance architecture which would provide all-weather, non-deniable, broad-area, real time coverage of air, ground, and sea targets over multiple, changing areas of concern. This paper discusses some of the operational requirements and key technologies for a notional space based radar (SBR) design supporting the ...

Maneuver Detection of Uncooperative Space Objects with Space-Based Optical Surveillance
2018This paper explores the maneuver detection method of uncooperative objects with space-based camera. The camera imaging observation model is first described and the observability calculation method is discussed. Then different thrust dynamic models are described in detail and the orbit determination method using space-based observation data is presented.

Identification analysis for geosynchronous objects with space-based visible surveillance
2010 International Conference on Computer Application and System Modeling (ICCASM 2010), 2010This paper analyzes the distribution of the geosynchronous objects, and establishes a Nth cosine scattering model based on the scattering character of the space objects, and then deduces the brightness magnitude model of objects at the observer. This paper analyzes the sun-object-observer phase angle and the object's attitude how to influence the ...

Future Space Based Radar Technology Needs for Surveillance
AIAA International Air and Space Symposium and Exposition: The Next 100 Years, 2003Space Based Radars are gaining significant acceptance for world-wide, all-weather, on-demand surveillance. The main impediment has been affordability, followed closely by the limitations by satellite communications for providing near real time target detection data to the users.

Advanced Electro-Optical Space-Based Systems for Missile Surveillance
2001Abstract : This report describes an analysis/simulation methodology used to assess a nominal space-based infrared surveillance architect against a Theater Missile Warning (TMW) mission for two potential theatres of operation. System performance is derived for three generic infrared scanning sensor designs (which were analyzed in parallel for ...

A Novel Space-Based AIS Receiver Architecture for Maritime Surveillance
2020This paper presents a novel space-based automatic identification system (AIS) receiver architecture meant for maritime surveillance. The receiver performance has been simulated in the presence of three AIS Tx signal messages colliding in different combinations of frequency, time and power.

A method of correlation analysis for space-based GEO object surveillance
Science China Technological Sciences, 2012A method of correlation analysis to determine the correlation between two too-short arcs is presented to monitor geosynchronous earth orbit objects on a space-based surveillance system. The necessary condition for a geosynchronous earth orbit object to be observed by a space-based visible sensor in two successive orbital periods is derived, and the ...
