Block Coded Modulation for Space-Time Signaling

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2006
This paper presents a method for increasing the coding gain of all varieties of space-time block codes (STBC), without using a trellis or introducing dependency between successive transmission blocks, using ideas from Block-Coded Modulation (BCM). For a given STBC, we first increase the constellation size, then prune the codewords of the expanded ...

On an Orthogonal Space-Time-Polarization Block Code

Journal of Communications, 2009
Over the past several years, diversity methods such as space, time, and polarization diversity have been successfully implemented in wireless communications systems. Orthogonal space-time block codes efficiently combine space and time diversity, and they have been studied in detail.

Power adaptation in space-time block code

GLOBECOM'01. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (Cat. No.01CH37270), 2002
Transmission power adaptations are considered in a space-time block code (STBC) system utilizing feedback channel gain information. We investigate the optimal power adaptation scheme that minimizes the average BER subject a fixed average transmission power constraint.

Space-Time Block Coding for Wireless Communications

2003
Space-time coding is a technique that promises greatly improved performance in wireless networks by using multiple antennas at the transmitter and receiver. Space-Time Block Coding for Wireless Communications, first published in 2003, is an introduction to the theory of this technology.

Diagonal algebraic space-time block codes

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2002
Summary: We construct a new family of linear space-time (ST) block codes by the combination of rotated constellations and the Hadamard transform, and we prove them to achieve the full transmit diversity over a quasi-static or fast fading channel. The proposed codes transmit at a normalized rate of 1 symbol/\(s\).

Performance of space-time block coding and space-time trellis coding for impulse radio

IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2004. GLOBECOM '04., 2005
Ultra wideband (UWB) systems have attracted a lot of research interest lately, owing to their appealing features in short-range mobile communications. These features include low power peer-to-peer transmissions, multiple access communications, high data rates, and precise positioning capabilities.

Distributed Convolutional-Coded Differential Space-Time Block Coding

2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference, 2010
A low complexity distributed coding scheme is proposed for communications over Rayleigh fading channels. Convolutional Coding (CC) assisted Differential Phase-Shift Keying (DPSK) modulation is employed at the source node for conveying the source signals to two relay nodes as well as to the destination node during the first transmission period ...

Equivalent codes and optimality of orthogonal space-time block codes

2011 Conference Record of the Forty Fifth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (ASILOMAR), 2011
An equivalent model of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication system with orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) is proposed based on a newly found connection between OSTBCs and Euclidian codes. A new asymptotic upper bound on the symbol error rate (SER) of OSTBC, which is based on distance spectra of the introduced equivalent ...

PARAFAC2 Receivers for Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes

2009 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2009
Space-Time Block Codes can be represented by tensors, like for example the Kathri-Rao Space Time codes introduced by Sidiropoulos. In this paper, we introduce a Parallel Factor Analysis 2 (PARAFAC2) model for Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (OSTBC). This model, along with tensor diagonalisation designed for orthogonal tensors, leads us to develop a ...
