Distributed space-time block coding

GLOBECOM '05. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2005., 2005
In this paper, a new class of distributed space-time block codes (DSTBCs) is introduced. These DSTBCs are designed for wireless networks which have a large set of single-antenna relay nodes Nscr, but at any given time only a small, a priori unknown subset of nodes SsubeNscr can be active.

Space-time block codes versus space-time trellis codes

ICC 2001. IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Record (Cat. No.01CH37240), 2002
Two outstanding examples of transmit diversity schemes for the multiple-antenna flat-fading channel are space-time block coding (STBC) and space-time trellis coding (STTC). We compare the performance of STBC and STTC in terms of the frame error rate keeping the transmit power, spectral efficiency and number of trellis states fixed.

On MIDO Space-Time Block Codes

2007 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2007
In this paper, the need for the construction of multiple input-double output (MIDO) space-time block codes (STBCs) is discussed, concentrating on the case of four transmitters for simplicity. Above the trivial method, i.e. switching off the extra layers in the usual multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) setting, two smarter yet simple MIDO construction

Semiorthogonal Space–Time Block Codes

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2010
In this paper, a new class of full-diversity, rate-one space-time block codes (STBCs) called semiorthogonal algebraic space-time block codes (SAST codes) is proposed. SAST codes are delay optimal when the number of transmit antennas is even. The SAST codeword matrix has a generalized Alamouti structure where the transmitted symbols are replaced by ...

Space time block code for EDGE

IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002
Transmit diversity techniques have emerged as a very powerful tool to mitigate the adverse effect of fading in mobile radio communications. In transmission systems with weak channel coding or slow moving mobiles transmit diversity techniques that can improve uncoded transmission are of particular interest. In this paper we apply a space-time block code

Differential space-time block codes

GLOBECOM'01. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (Cat. No.01CH37270), 2002
We propose a new differential modulation scheme for multiple-antenna systems based on square space-time block codes (STBC) when neither the transmitter nor the receiver knows channel state information. Compared with the known differential unitary space-time modulation (DUSTM), the proposed constellations generally have multiple amplitudes and do not ...
