New software implementation of the space vector modulation

Proceedings of the 12th IEEE Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37521), 2004
A new software implementation of the space vector modulation (SVM) on the vector controlled induction machine is proposed. The conventional SVM requires square root and arctangent computations. New SVM algorithm is develop to determine directly conducting times without square root and arctangent computations.

FPGA implementation of an universal space vector modulator

IECON'01. 27th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.37243), 2002
In this paper a new circuit implementation of a space vector PWM is presented. The modulator is developed using field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. The modulator takes the reference vector from the PC Bus, and constructs the modulated states to generate driving signals for the power switches.

Direct Space Vector Modulated Matrix Converter

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018
Matrix converter has emerged as a best substitution of the conventional converters due to the capability of power regeneration, the sinusoidal input and output waveforms, and no need for energy storage. MC is a single - stage converter having sinusoidal input as well as output voltage and current.

Interleaved PWM with discontinuous space-vector modulation

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1999
This paper describes the effect of interleaved discontinuous space-vector modulation (SVM) in paralleled three-phase systems using three-phase pulsewidth modulation (PWM) rectifiers as an example. At the discontinuous point of the SVM, the phase shift between the switching signals of the paralleled modules generates a zero-sequence excitation to the ...

Space Vectors Modulation for Nine-Switch Converters

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2010
Recently, nine-switch inverter and nine-switch-z-source inverter have been proposed as dual output inverters. In this paper, the space vector modulation (SVM) of nine-switch inverter and nine-switch-z-source inverter is proposed. The proposed method increases the sum of modulation indices up to 15% in contrast with the conventional, scheme in which the

A novel space vector modulation method of three-level inverter based on the synthesized middle space vectors

APCCAS 2008 - 2008 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, 2008
This paper proposes a space-vector modulation method for three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter. The concept of middle-vectors is proposed and applied to restrain the neutral point (NP) voltage variations. By using the synthesized middle-vector method, the average current across the NP can be controlled to almost zero, while the neutral point

Space vector modulator for forced commutated cycloconverters

Conference Record of the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003
A pulse-width modulation (PWM) control technique for forced commutated cycloconverters is presented. The technique is based on the space vector representation of the voltages in the complex plane. It is shown that with the allowable switching combinations, six output voltage space vectors with varying amplitudes can be obtained, in addition to the zero

Power losses for space vector modulation techniques

Power Electronics in Transportation, 2002
Space vector modulation (SVM) allows 15% more bus utilization than sinusoidal pulse width modulation (PWM). In addition, variations of the SVM method can offer 33% less switching edges. With power losses in the inverter being a significant concern, a reduction in modulation losses can be a significant benefit.

On the Implementation of a 3D Space Vector Modulation Algorithm

2018 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC), 2018
This paper reports on the development of an efficient C-script implementation of a 3D Space Vector Modulation (3D-SVM) algorithm for a Three Phase Four-Leg Voltage Source Inverter. The duty cycles calculations are performed in the three dimensional stationary frame $\alpha \beta \gamma $. The algorithm takes advantage of the finite-set of space-vectors

A Bit-Stream based space vector modulator

The 2010 International Power Electronics Conference - ECCE ASIA -, 2010
Bit-Stream based control, which uses one bit wide signals to control power electronics applications, is a new approach for controller design in power electronic systems. Bit-Stream signals are inherently high frequency in nature, and as such some form of down sampling or modulating is essential to avoid excessive switching losses. This paper presents a
