Direct Measurement of Accumulated Space Charge Using External Currents

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2021
In the past few decades, immense contributions have been put in by researchers to measure the accumulation of space charge in dielectric materials. At the same time, the direct measurement of the amount of space charge in materials has been completely neglected, probably due to the difficulties in measuring currents at high-voltage (HV) electrode ...

Space charge accumulation in multilayer insulators

9th International Symposium on Electrets (ISE 9) Proceedings, 2002
In a multilayer insulator made of two or more materials with different dielectric constants and conductivities, internal space charge accumulates at their interfaces. If the local field is increased by the accumulated charge, the electric durability of the insulator should be decreased.

Space charge accumulation in epoxy-PET composites

2013 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2013
Composite insulation systems are commonly used in high voltage apparatus. In the presence of multiple materials, interfaces between the materials assume considerable significance. Epoxy-PET composites are used as class B insulating materials in transformers but little is known about the interfacial charge behaviour in such a system.

Space charge accumulation in electron irradiated PMMA

Journal of Electrostatics, 1991
Abstract The results of experimental study of charge storage in PMMA after electron irradiation (energy range 0.8–2.0 MeV) published to date differ considerably and even qualitatively. There are papers showing alternating negative and positive charge layers of comporable magnitude with the corresponding number of zero-field planes. Still other papers

Space charge accumulation in polymeric DC mini-cables

2013 IEEE International Conference on Solid Dielectrics (ICSD), 2013
Polymeric cables operating under high voltage direct current (HVDC), suffer from space charge accumulation and may exhibit a relatively low depletion rate of accumulated charges when the external field is removed. Increasing the reliability of polymeric dc cables is of crucial importance.
