Surface charge decay characteristics of epoxy spacer under space charge accumulation

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics
Abstract Under DC voltage, space charge inevitably accumulates within the spacer, thereby influencing the dissipation of surface charges. In this study, a charge measurement platform for epoxy resin spacers is constructed. The temporal variation of the surface charge distribution under space charges is compared. The results indicate that

Influence of carbon black in polyethylene on space charge accumulation

IEEE 1997 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2002
In several studies regarding space charge accumulation in peroxide crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) it is identified that the products from the crosslinking process give rise to heterocharge accumulation in a DC-field. Several ways to reduce this accumulation have been proposed.

Decreasing space charge accumulation in polyethylene with an inorganic filler

Journal of Electrostatics, 1997
Abstract The applicability of polyethylene polymerized using a metallocene catalyst as an insulation material for DC XLPE cables has been investigated. The space charge distribution was examined using the pulsed electroacoustic technique over a temperature range from room temperature to 90°C.

The dynamics of space-charge accumulation in irradiated MOS capacitors

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1982
An investigation into the radiation-induced charging of MOS capacitors using numerical simulation is reported. The results indicate that the high mobility of electrons in SiO2 films prevents accurate simulations from being carried out even for moderately short exposure times. This is so because of the small integrating time step (

Investigating ac space charge accumulation in polymers by PEA measurements

2000 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (Cat. No.00CH37132), 2002
This paper presents the first results of a procedure which allows the determination of the threshold for space charge build-up in polymeric insulation subjected to ac electrical field. Thresholds for space charge accumulation under dc were determined by observing insulation until space charge appeared steadily. In ac the amount of charge accumulated is

Space charge accumulation in two power cable grades of XLPE

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1998
The accumulation of space charge in XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene), cross-linked using DCP (dicumyl peroxide) or a silane-based grafting process, was studied via the LIPP (laser-induced-pressure-pulse) technique. Planar samples 0.5 mm thick were obtained from the XLPE insulation of power distribution cables.

Space Charge Accumulation Characteristics in Fluorinated Insulating Material under DC High Stress

IEEJ Transactions on Fundamentals and Materials, 2018
AbstractElectron beam irradiated fluorinated materials, which are used for an optical solar reflector of spacecraft, have been investigated using a space charge measurement system under dc high stress. It was found that a large amount of space charge accumulated in the electron beam irradiated ethylene‐tetrafluoroethylene and fluorinated ethylene ...

Approximations for accumulation and inversion space-charge layers in semiconductors

Solid-State Electronics, 1968
Abstract The solution of Poisson's equation for heavily accumulated or inverted space-charge regions in semiconductors is discussed. Closed form solutions are obtained for such regions. These solutions make it possible to obtain good approximations to potential and carrier density variations with distance in semiconductor surface space-charge layers.

Study of space charge accumulation in polyolefins submitted to ac stress

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2001
The aim of the present study was to follow space charge formation under ac field (50 Hz) in polyolefins. The thermal step method was used, and charge accumulation was observed in crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE), very low density polyethylene (VLDPE), isotactic polypropylene (PP) and a PE /PP copolymer, the temperature varying from 45 to 90/spl deg/C ...
