Relay-assisted WDM-FSO System: A Better Solution for Communication under Rain and Haze Weather Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2017
Among various conventional wireless communication systems, Free Space Optics (FSO) may be distinguished as well, which provides a good level security, high data rates, an enormous bandwidth and negligible susceptibility to electromagnetic interference ...

Recent Advances in Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Gas Sensors: From Sensing Mechanisms to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...

95.16-Gb/s Mode-Division-Multiplexing Signal Transmission in Free-Space Enabled by Effective-Conversion of Vector Beams

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We introduce a high-efficient vector modes (VMs) conversion scheme by using Q-plate (QP) and half-waveplate based on higher-order Poincaré sphere model.

β‐Elemene Rescues Radiation‐Induced Enteritis by Orchestrating a Host‐Microbiome Circuit That Fuels Epigenetic DNA Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates that β‐elemene promotes cellular uptake of L. gasseri‐derived lactate by enhancing the membrane translocation of MCT1 in a CD147‐dependent manner. Intracellular lactate, through the lactylation of RBBP4 at the K26 site, recruits EP300 to the promoter regions of downstream genes (POLD1/POLD3), catalyzing H3K27ac modification.

Novel applications of space-division multiplexing

open access: yesFrontiers of Optoelectronics, 2016
Space-division multiplexing (SDM) using multi-core fibers (MCFs) and few-mode fibers (FMFs) was proposed as a solution to increase capacity and/or reduce the cost per bit of fiber-optic transmission. Advances in passive and active SDM devices as well as digital signal processing have led to impressive SDM transmission demonstrations in the laboratory ...

Senolytic Therapy as a Preventive Strategy for Spine Degeneration and Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cellular senescence promotes inflammation, tissue degeneration, and chronic back pain. In sparc‐null mice, early oral administration of the senolytic agents o‐vanillin and RG‐7112 reduced senescent cell burden and pro‐inflammatory SASP signaling across intervertebral discs, endplates, vertebral bone, and spinal cord.

Space Division Multiplexing Fibers and Amplifiers

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics 2017 (IPR, NOMA, Sensors, Networks, SPPCom, PS), 2017
We report on the fabrication of multi-core multi-mode fibers tailored for optics communications applications. Examples of passive graded index fiber and active Er-doped multi-mode and multi-core fibers for ultra-high-density SDM will be discussed.

MEOX1 Coordinates Autocrine‐Paracrine Programs via SPHK1/S1P to Promote Lymph Node Metastasis in Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In ovarian cancer, MEOX1 activates the SPHK1/S1P pathway to promote both tumor progression and tumor–stroma crosstalk. MEOX1‐dependent signaling drives CAF activation, enhances VEGF‐C expression, and stimulates lymphangiogenesis, ultimately facilitating lymph node metastasis.

Reaching the pinnacle of high-capacity optical transmission using a standard cladding diameter coupled-core multi-core fiber

open access: yesNature Communications
Data rates in optical networks have grown exponentially in recent decades and are expected to grow beyond the fundamental limits of current standard single-mode fiber networks. As such, novel transmission technologies are required to sustain this growth,
