Analyses of Flight Time During Solar Proton Events and Solar Flares [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Analyzing the effects of space weather on aviation is a new and developing topic. It has been commonly accepted that the flight time of the polar flights may increase during solar proton events because the flights have to change their route to avoid the high-energy particles.

Radiation Analysis for Moon and Mars Missions [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Astrophysics and Space Science, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2020, Pages: 16-26, 2018
This paper provides an overview of the radiation aspects of manned space flight to Moon and Mars. The expected ionizing radiation dose for an astronaut is assessed along the Apollo 11 flight path to the Moon. With the two dose values, the expected and the measured total dose, the radiation shielding and the activity of the Sun are estimated.
