Electricity Load Implications of Space Heating Decarbonization Pathways
Summary We investigate implications of building space heating decarbonization pathways across the climate-diverse United States. We compute that an “all-electric” approach could require a 70% increase in nationwide electricity system capacity.

Experimental test of a black-box economic model predictive control for residential space heating
Previous studies have identified significant demand response (DR) potentials in using economic model predictive control (E-MPC) of space heating to exploit the inherent thermal mass in residential buildings for short-term energy storage.

Heat Flow on Alexandrov Spaces [PDF]
AbstractWe prove that on compact Alexandrov spaces with curvature bounded below the gradient flow of the Dirichlet energy in the \documentclass{article} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{amsmath, amssymb} \pagestyle{empty} \begin{document} \begin{align*}L^2\end{align*} \end{document}‐space produces the same evolution as the gradient flow of the ...

Climate justice: air quality and transitions from solid fuel heating
Of all the European Union’s member states, Poland has the most acute ambient air pollution problem. An urgent transition from solid-fuel heating ('e.g.' coal and wood) in the housing sector is required to improve air quality in the country.

Experimental and Numerical Study of an Electrical Thermal Storage Device for Space Heating
An electrical thermal storage (ETS) device for space heating is designed in this study. The proposed device is charged by the off-peak electricity and releases its thermal energy to warm the space all day long.
