Effects of White Space on Consumer Perceptions of Value in E-Commerce [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
As e-commerce becomes an increasingly large industry, questions remain about how the isolated effects of design elements on websites influence consumer perceptions and purchasing behavior.

A Case‐Based Reasoning Approach to Model Manufacturing Constraints for Impact Extrusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid modeling approach is presented that combines constraint‐based process modeling and case‐based reasoning. The model formalizes manufacturing constraints and integrates simulation data to model complex manufacturing processes. The approach supports manufacturability analysis during product design through an adaptive modeling environment.

Constructing an olfactory perceptual space and predicting percepts from molecular structure [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Given the structure of a novel molecule, there is still no one who can reliably predict what odor percept that molecule will evoke. The challenge comes from both the difficulty in quantitatively characterizing molecular structure, and the inadequacy of language to fully characterize olfactory perception.

Perception and reconstruction of two-dimensional, simulated ego-motion trajectories from optic flow. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A veridical percept of ego-motion is normally derived from a combination of visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive signals. In a previous study, blindfolded subjects could accurately perceive passively travelled straight or curved trajectories provided ...

Geometry‐Assisted Phase Selection: Interplay of Phase Heterogeneity and Geometry in Gyroid Shell Metamaterials Printed with 17‐4 PH Stainless Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores geometry‐driven phase evolution in gyroid shell metamaterials made via laser powder bed fusion of 17‐4 precipitation hardened stainless steel. Locally hardened regions develop along the primary loading paths in the structure, which finite element analysis and geometric considerations link to enhanced gyroid strength.

Constraints of Perception and Cognition in Relativistic Physics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
This article explores the constraints of perception and cognition in relativistic physics. Describing reality as a cognitive representation of our sensory inputs, the article shows how the limitations in perception translate to the properties of space and time in physics.

Gaze Behaviour during Space Perception and Spatial Decision Making [PDF]

open access: yes
A series of four experiments investigating gaze behavior and decision making in the context of wayfinding is reported. Participants were presented with screen-shots of choice points taken in large virtual environments.

Effects of Creep in Titanium at Room Temperature during Tensile and Profilometry‐Based Indentation Plastometry Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article concerns room temperature tensile testing, with a range of (nominal) strain rates, of three titanium alloys. Stress–strain curves are analyzed to obtain creep characteristics. Profilometry‐based indentation plastometry testing is also covered, using different penetration velocities, and correlations established with tensile data.

Environmentally Stable and Highly Crystalline MXenes for Multispectral Electromagnetic Shielding up to Millimeter Waves

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents excellent EMI shielding effectiveness of highly crystalline HC‐Ti3C2Tx MXene, characterized by high electrical conductivity, outstanding environmental stability, and facile processability, across a multispectral frequency range from 100 kHz to 110 GHz. It is revealed that increasing the thickness and electrical conductivity of MXene

Breakthrough Solution for Antimicrobial Resistance Detection: Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy‐based on Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView., 2023
This review discusses the use of Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for detecting antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Various SERS studies used with AI techniques, including machine learning and deep learning, are analyzed for their advantages and limitations.
