A Unification of Models of Tethered Satellites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, different conservative models of tethered satellites are related mathematically, and it is established in what limit they may provide useful insight into the underlying dynamics.

Nuclear Pore Mechanotransduction in Oncology: A Structural Axis of Vulnerability for Targeted Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated NPC remodeling creates a high‐flux, low‐stringency nuclear state that supports malignant adaptation but increases mechanical fragility. Targeting the FG‐barrier or NPC scaffold may drive mechanostat failure, envelope rupture, DNA damage, and loss of nuclear integrity.

Iterative Selection of DNA Nanostructures for Cellular Uptake

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
DNA nanostructures are promising cell targeting delivery vehicles for therapeutics, but the targeting behavior is not fully understood. In this study, libraries of DNA nanostructures that can be amplified and sequenced are combined with cellular uptake as a selection pressure to iteratively refine DNA structures taken up in cells to better understand ...

Motion of a space tether system in the atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The space tether system under consideration consists of two rigid bodies with significantly different ballistic coefficients. Because of this difference one of the bodies acts as a stabilizer for the main body – a spacecraft – during the motion of the ...

Analysis of the motion of a nanosatellite with an uninsulated conductive tether [PDF]

open access: yesКосмические аппараты и технологии
The motion of an electrodynamic tether system consisting of a nanosatellite and an auxiliary body (electron emitter) is analyzed. The nanosatellite and the emitter are connected by an uninsulated conductive tether.

Natural Frequencies of a Tethered Satellite System

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study investigated the natural frequencies of a tethered satellite system to enhance stability and operational reliability. Tethered satellite systems provide many advantages for space missions but exhibit inherently complex dynamics due to the ...

Overview of Future NASA Tether Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The groundwork has been laid for tether applications in space. NASA has developed tether technology for space applications since the 1960's. Important recent milestones include retrieval of a tether in space (TSS-1, 1992), successful deployment of a 20 ...

Seamless Mechanical Programming Through Hybrid Epoxy–Acrylate Printing for Soft–Rigid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid epoxy‐acrylate printing enables seamless fabrication of soft–rigid robotic systems with covalently integrated interfaces and functionally graded mechanics. Grayscale exposure expands the accessible material space, enabling spatially programmed actuation through patterned stiffness while revealing the mechanics and durability of continuously ...
