Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Performance of cowpea varieties under different phosphorus levels and spacing in Tanzania

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture
The identification of cowpea varieties that can thrive in P-limited soils and optimal spacing has not yet been addressed in Tanzania. This study evaluated the recently released three cowpea varieties for growth parameters and high yield in different P ...

On Conjugate Spaces of Nakano Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1959
The Nakano space is a normed space. The relations between the modular and its norms are the most important problem in the theory of Nakano spaces. To determine the types of modulars whose norms are proportional has been completely solved by Amemiya [1 ] and Yamamuro [1]. The purpose of this paper is to consider the relations from another point of view,

Experiments with CCC on wheat: effects of spacing, nitrogen and irrigation

open access: yes, 1969
In experiments with spring and winter wheat at Rothamsted and Woburn during 4 years CCC increased yield at close spacing (4 in) (10 cm) more than at usual spacing (8 in) (20 cm), but there was no interaction between spacing and yield.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Cognitive Learning Strategies in Music Performance Practice in Formal and Informal Contexts: A Scoping Review Protocol

open access: yesNordic Journal of Systematic Reviews in Education
Cognitive science offers a range of evidence-based learning strategies that may enhance how musicians acquire, retain, and refine performance skills. Among these, retrieval practice, spacing, and interleaving have received consistent empirical support ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Comprehensive Assessments of the Bilal Extended Model with Applications in Mechanical Engineering and Health Insurance

open access: yesMathematics
A recent generalized Bilal (G-Bilal) model demonstrates remarkable flexibility in capturing a wide spectrum of failure behaviors, including monotonic and non-monotonic (upside-down bathtub-shaped) hazard patterns, outperforming several existing models ...

Learning style, modal preference & the spacing effect in an online project management training programme.

open access: yes
Constant and continued up-grade of skills and qualifications is imperative in a knowledge society (David & Foray 2003, OECD 2007) and central to Continued Professional Development (CPD) programmes in most organisations.
