Evaluation of Optical Chlorophyll Meters as Proxy for Nitrogen in Theobroma cacao L.

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science
Leaf nitrogen (N) and leaf chlorophyll concentrations are key indicators of a plant’s nutritional status. For many crops, readings from simple optical methods for estimating chlorophyll correlate well with laboratory-based chlorophyll extraction methods.

Ratiometric Mycotoxin Detection in Living Plants With Dual‐Emissive Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive microneedle patch integrates carbon dot‐embedded metal–organic frameworks as nanosensors to detect a key fungal toxin in living plants. The nanosensor produces a ratiometric fluorescence signal that enables early, non‐destructive diagnosis of fungal infection before visible symptoms, offering a new biomaterials‐based strategy for ...

Probing Near‐Field EM Fluctuations in Superparamagnetic CoFeB With NV Quantum Dephasometry

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
We non‐invasively investigate the superparamagnetic spin dynamics of a 1.1 nm CoFeB layer by probing its near‐field EM fluctuations using NV centers‐based quantum dephasometry. Our findings are further supported by theoretical modeling and SQUID‐based magnetization characterization. These results provide critical insight into the magnetization dynamics

Post-Silking Shading Stress Affects Leaf Nitrogen Metabolism of Spring Maize in Southern China

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Lower sunlight caused by overcast skies from June to July in Southern China is one of the main environmental stresses that frequently occur and affect the post-silking growth and grain development of spring maize.

Evolution of quality parameters of different lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) varieties under unheated plastic tunnel

open access: yesActa Universitatis Sapientiae: Agriculture and Environment, 2021
The plastic tunnel can ensure a positive effect on the yield and quality of vegetables. In our experiment, we evaluated the following types and varieties of lettuce – heading type (‘Great Lakes 659’, ‘King of May’), non-heading type (‘Lollo Rossa ...
