40-nm SPAD-Array Detection System for Ultra-Fast Raman Spectroscopy

Biomedical optics
Raman Spectroscopy for protein sequencing requires fast detection systems able to manage fluorescence rejection. We propose a 40-nm SPAD-Array system-on-chip with an integrated gate generation block to time-filter fluorescence photons.

High performance compound semiconductor SPAD arrays

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Aggregated compound semiconductor single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) arrays are emerging as a viable alternative to the silicon photomultiplier (SiPM). Compound semiconductors have the potential to surpass SiPM performance, potentially achieving orders of magnitude lower dark count rates and improved radiation hardness.

Characterization of SPAD Arrays: First Results

2006
SPAD detectors are very promising for astrophysical applications. Large arrays are crucial to cover as much of the focal plane as possible. STMicroelectronics has developed various monolithic arrays of SPAD. At present, the manufacturing of 5×5 arrays (each with an active area of 40 μm and pitch between adjacent pixels of 240 μm) is completed and ...

Bi-dimensional arrays of SPAD for time-resolved single photon imaging

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2009
Abstract Many scientific areas like astronomy, biophysics, biomedicine, nuclear and plasma science, etc. are interested in the development of a new time-resolved single photon imaging device. Such a device represents today one of the most challenging goals in the field of photonics.

32 channels SPAD array for single photon timing applications

2012 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference Record (NSS/MIC), 2012
Many applications require photodetectors with single-photon sensitivity and high timing resolution. We present a module based on a linear array of 32 Single-Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs) for multi-channel Time-Correlated Single-Photon Counting (TCSPC) applications.

Quantum imaging with SPAD arrays

2019
We present a novel quantum imaging modality based on photon correlation measurement with a single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array in a confocal setup. This enables unprecedented simplicity in realization of photon correlation measurements, demonstrated via measuring of second and third order photon correlations of quantum light sources, and the ...

The new generation of SPAD--Single-Photon Avalanche Diodes arrays

Il Nuovo Cimento C, 2007
In the last years the single-photon detection with silicon devices has become an important goal. Here we present the performance of a new generation of single-photon avalanche diodes manufactured by ST-Microelectronics. The 5 x 5 array configuration has been also realized and the performances, in terms of crosstalk and common readout mode, have been ...
