Low energy neutrino scattering measurements at future Spallation Source facilities
In the future several Spallation Source facilities will be available worldwide. Spallation Sources produce large amount of neutrinos from decay-at-rest muons and thus can be well adapted to accommodate state-of-the-art neutrino experiments. In this paper

We propose helium-4 spallation processes induced by long-lived stau in supersymmetric standard models, and investigate an impact of the processes on light elements abundances.

Investigations of fast neutron production by 190 GeV/c muon interactions on different targets [PDF]
The production of fast neutrons (1 MeV - 1 GeV) in high energy muon-nucleus interactions is poorly understood, yet it is fundamental to the understanding of the background in many underground experiments. The aim of the present experiment (CERN NA55) was

Hypervelocity impacts on thin brittle targets: experimental data and SPH simulations [PDF]
The meteoroids and debris environment play an important role in the reduction of spacecraft life time. Ejecta or secondary debris, are produced when a debris or a meteoroid impact a spacecraft surface.

Coupling mechanism of seepage and coal and rock mass destruction during coal and gas outburst
In response to the unclear mechanism of coal and gas outburst, the mechanical action mechanism of gas seepage on coal body damage and coal and gas outburst in working face was studied. The concept of gas permeability as a cohesive force is introduced from

Conceptual Design of the Moderator Test Station at the Spallation Neutron Source [PDF]
We describe the Moderator Test Station (MTS), under construction at the Spallation Neutron Source. We will leverage the Beam Test Facility (BTF) at the Spallation Neutron Source to provide a moderator neutronics test stand with which we will verify the ...

The Influence of Specimen Thickness on the High Temperature Corrosion Behavior of CMSX-4 during Thermal-Cycling Exposure [PDF]
CMSX-4 is a single-crystalline Ni-base superalloy designed to be used at very high temperatures and high mechanical loadings. Its excellent corrosion resistance is due to external alumina-scale formation, which however can become less protective under ...

Tests of Fundamental Symmetries with Neutrons [PDF]
Because of recent technological developments, new opportunities to test fundamental symmetries using cold and ultra-cold neutrons will become available in the next several years.

A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Pulsed spallation neutron sources [PDF]
The discovery of the neutron in 1932, which indirectly led to the potentially catastrophic development of nuclear weapons on the one hand and to the beneficial development of nuclear-generated electricity on the other, has had another, less well-known, but scientifically important consequence: the provision of a uniquely sensitive and pervasive tool ...
