Iron nanoparticles on carbon disc matrixes (CD@Fe) are engineered, showing a high surface area of 424 m2 g−1 and micro/mesoporosity. The CD@Fe showed promising electrocatalytic performance for the nitrate reduction to ammonia with ammonia yield rates of 1.8–13.5 mg h−1 cm−2 at overpotentials of −0.2–−0.6 V (vs.

Toward decarbonization of the titanium industry via hydrogen plasma smelting reduction
Hydrogen plasma smelting reduction enables direct, zero‐carbon conversion of low‐grade ilmenite into steel‐grade iron and a titania‐rich precursor for pigment production. The single‐step process merges smelting and refining, sharply lowers silica content, and offers a breakthrough path for sustainable, high‐value extraction from abundant mineral sands.

Trimetallic PtxCrxAg1‐x (x < 0.1) alloys feature active Pt–Cr pairs for non‐oxidative ethanol dehydrogenation. Operando X‐ray spectroscopy confirms the preferential formation of Pt–Cr pairs dispersed throughout an Ag matrix and demonstrates that the Pt–Cr sites have high activity and selectivity for catalytic ethanol dehydrogenation, while suppressing ...
