Revisiting Fire Safety Guidelines in CO2 Laser Airway Surgery

This experimental study evaluates fire risk during CO2 laser airway surgery using high‐flow and jet ventilation in a porcine model. Results showed that laser wattage had a greater influence on fire risk than FiO2, with jet ventilation consistently producing expansive flames.

Passivation of Prestressed Steel in Concrete With Slag and Exposed to Chlorides

The presence of free sulphides in slag will not adversely affect the long‐term corrosion performance of prestressed concrete structures. The possible adverse effect of free sulphides on early‐stage passivation can subside at later stages as the steel in slag‐based binders has good ability to repassivate.

Phosphorus‐free flame‐retardant epoxy systems offer eco‐friendly, low‐toxicity solutions by avoiding hazardous byproducts. This work highlights structure–performance relationships, with emphasis on how rigid backbones, multifunctional groups, and crosslinked networks enhance char formation, flame retardancy, and mechanical strength.
