Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic

A V‐Shaped Fourth‐Order Sparse Array Design for 2‐D Direction of Arrival Estimation

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
Degrees of freedom (DOF) serves as a critical metric for evaluating the design of sparse arrays. Developing novel sparse arrays with enhanced degrees of freedom and mathematically expressible structures constitutes a significant research direction in the

Array Shading to Maximize Deflection Coefficient for Broadband Signal Detection With Conventional Beamforming

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
This paper develops and applies a numerical optimization procedure to compute broadband noise-adaptive weights for delay and sum beamforming that are conditioned to maximize the deflection coefficient at the output of a square law detector for a given ...

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Mutual coupling error modeling and correction of shared aperture interleaved sparse array antennas

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2018
The shared aperture interleaved sparse array antenna is an effective way to implement a multi-function array antenna. The existing parameterized mutual coupling elimination methods are all developed for uniform array antennas. The mutual coupling matrix ...

Distributed memory compiler methods for irregular problems: Data copy reuse and runtime partitioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Outlined here are two methods which we believe will play an important role in any distributed memory compiler able to handle sparse and unstructured problems. We describe how to link runtime partitioners to distributed memory compilers.

An efficient way to assemble finite element matrices in vector languages

open access: yes, 2015
Efficient Matlab codes in 2D and 3D have been proposed recently to assemble finite element matrices. In this paper we present simple, compact and efficient vectorized algorithms, which are variants of these codes, in arbitrary dimension, without the use ...

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including
