Cryopreservation of Seabream (Sparus aurata) Spermatozoa
Cryobiology, 2000The aim of this research was to optimize protocols for freezing spermatozoa of seabream (Sparus aurata). All the phases of the cryopreservation procedure (sampling, choosing the cryoprotective extender, cooling, freezing, and thawing) were studied in relation to the species of spermatozoa under examination, so as to be able to restore on thawing the ...

Abstract An experimental cage culture unit was established in El Kura Bay, Dahab, Gulf of Aqaba, in 1974. Attention has been paid to (a) testing the suitability of the gilthead sea bream, Sparus aurata , transferred from the Mediterranean to cage culture in a subtropical sea; (b) testing the suitability of a few local species to cage culture; (c ...

Apoptosis in sea bream Sparus aurata eggs
Molecular Reproduction and Development, 2003AbstractIn the present study, the sea‐bream Sparus aurata, a pelagic egg spawner, was used as experimental model, in order to establish the occurrence of apoptosis in vertebrates with external reproduction. The same female ovulates floating and nonfloating eggs, but only the former, after fertilization, proceed to embryo development.

α2-Macroglobulin in the marine fish Sparus aurata
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Molecular & Integrative Physiology, 2005The alpha2-macroglobulin proteinase inhibitors (alpha2Ms) are a family of plasma proteins with the unique ability to inhibit a broad spectrum of proteinases, but are also known as binding proteins for many growth factors and cytokines, including growth hormone and members of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily.
