Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Spatial Autocorrelation and Verdoorn Law in the Portuguese NUTs III [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This study analyses, through cross-section estimation methods, the influence of spatial effects in productivity (product per worker), at economic sectors level of the NUTs III of mainland Portugal, from 1995 to 1999 and from 2000 to 2005 (taking in count

Cotargeting TREM2 and IL2 pathways triggers multipronged anticancer immunity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Von Locquenghien et al. report that MiTE‐144, a triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) blocking antibody fused to interleukin‐2 (IL2) variant with tumour microenvironment restricted activation, demonstrates superior anticancer efficiency in a preclinical setting.

Topological classification of black Hole: Generic Maxwell set and crease set of horizon

open access: yes, 2004
The crease set of an event horizon or a Cauchy horizon is an important object which determines qualitative properties of the horizon. In particular, it determines the possible topologies of the spatial sections of the horizon.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Spatial context of crime activities in criminal investigation [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Pravni Fakultet u Novom Sadu, 2019
Because of the fact that crime is committed in certain locations in geographic space, it cannot be analyzed in isolation from the environment in which it occurs and where its consequences arouse.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Living and Dealing with Limited Opportunities: Social Disadvantage and Coping Strategies in Rural Peripheries

open access: yesSociální studia, 2016
In this article, manifestations of social disadvantage in peripheral rural settings in the Czech Republic are investigated. Based on the theory of local opportunity structures, the authors identify various aspects of the spatial context that intersect ...

MFFNet: Image Semantic Segmentation Network of Multi-level Feature Fusion [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji kexue yu tansuo
In the task of image semantic segmentation, most methods do not make full use of features of different scales and levels, but directly upsampling, which will cause some effective information to be dismissed as redundant information, thus reducing the ...
