Površina kopnenog dijela teritorija Republike Hrvatske iznosi 56 488 km2 (kopno i otoci), površina unutarnjih morskih voda 12 498 km2, a teritorijalnog mora 18 981 km2. Dakle, ukupna površina morskog prostora, nad kojim Republika Hrvatska ostvaruje suverenitet, iznosi 31 479 km2 ili 55, 7% površine kopnenog dijela Hrvatske.
