Optimal Zoning in Spatial Differentiation [PDF]

open access: yesEstudios de economía, 2017
This study analyzes optimal zoning policy in a duopolistic spatial competition framework for both circular and linear spaces. A regulator is introduced in the third stage of the price-location game through a welfare function to model zoning preferences from firms and consumers. An equilibrium outcome is then found for both spatial configurations.

Plasmonic computing of spatial differentiation [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
AbstractOptical analog computing offers high-throughput low-power-consumption operation for specialized computational tasks. Traditionally, optical analog computing in the spatial domain uses a bulky system of lenses and filters. Recent developments in metamaterials enable the miniaturization of such computing elements down to a subwavelength scale ...

Differentially Private Spatial Decompositions [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE 28th International Conference on Data Engineering, 2012
Differential privacy has recently emerged as the de facto standard for private data release. This makes it possible to provide strong theoretical guarantees on the privacy and utility of released data. While it is well-known how to release data based on counts and simple functions under this guarantee, it remains to provide general purpose techniques ...

GLOBALISATION AND WAGE DIFFERENTIALS: A SPATIAL ANALYSIS* [PDF]

open access: yesThe Manchester School, 2011
Fujita, Krugman and Venables (FKV) develop a model in which international wage differentials encourage industrial mobility. We argue that globalization has another important dimension. Shocks may originate in a single country but, with modern transportation and telecommunications media, shocks spread quickly and with multiple shocks complex spillovers ...
