Joint variable spatial downscaling
Climatic Change, 2011Joint Variable Spatial Downscaling (JVSD), a new statistical technique for downscaling gridded climatic variables, is developed to generate high resolution gridded datasets for regional watershed modeling and assessments. The proposed approach differs from previous statistical downscaling methods in that multiple climatic variables are downscaled ...

Spatial downscaling of European climate data
International Journal of Climatology, 2015ABSTRACTE‐OBS(European Observations) is a gridded climate data set which contains maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and precipitation on a daily time step. The data can be as fine as 0.25° in resolution and extends over the entire European continent and parts of Africa and Asia.

Spatial variability and downscalling of precipitation
Physics and Chemistry of the Earth, Part B: Hydrology, Oceans and Atmosphere, 2001Abstract To fully take advantage of regional climate forecast information for agricultural applications, the relationship between regional and station scale precipitation characteristics must be quantified. The spatial variability of precipitation within a region is defined by differences between station and regional standardised values.

Spatial downscaling of TRMM 3B43 precipitation considering spatial heterogeneity
International Journal of Remote Sensing, 2014The availability of accurate precipitation data with high spatial resolution is deemed necessary for many types of hydrological, meteorological, and environmental applications. The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) data sets can provide effective precipitation information, but at coarse resolution (0.25°), so it is very important to improve ...

H.263 video transcoding for spatial resolution downscaling
Proceedings. International Conference on Information Technology: Coding and Computing, 2005In order to allow users to use handheld devices accessing video information, such as downloading and playing video files, there is a need to downscale the compressed video into lower spatial resolution and lower transmission bit rate. In this work, transcoding the compressed H.263 video into low spatial-resolution is discussed and realized.

Downscaling the environmental associations and spatial patterns of species richness
Ecological Applications, 2014We introduce a method that enables the estimation of species richness–environment association and prediction of geographic patterns of species richness at grains finer than the original grain of observation. The method is based on a hierarchical model that uses coarse‐grain values of species richness and fine‐grain environmental data as input.
