Research on the justice of public space in Macao’s social housing based on grounded theory

open access: yesCity and Environment Interactions
Based on grounded theory and spatial justice theory, this study addresses the understudied problem of spatial justice in public spaces within Macao’s social housing communities, which are critical yet often neglected sites of urban inequality. The aim is

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Equity, discrimination and remote policy: Investigating the centralization of remote service delivery in the Northern Territory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Two hypotheses have been advanced to explain the spatial patterning of service accessibility. The bureaucratic hypothesis holds that spatial inequalities are unpatterned and result from the application of decisions rules, while the competing political ...

The Impact of Land Development Rights Transfer on Urban–Rural Spatial Justice: A Case Study of Chongqing’s Land Quota Trading

open access: yesLand
Spatial justice, as a fundamental value in social systems, plays a key role in achieving social justice and improving human well-being. Drawing on theories of spatial justice, property rights, and new institutional economics, this study explores the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Critiquing Spatial Justice: Morphological Characteristics and Inherent Differences in Government-Subsidized Rental Housing in Shanghai’s Five New Towns

open access: yesBuildings
In recent years, the rapid construction of government-subsidized rental housing (GRH) has partially alleviated housing pressures caused by the growing number of migrant workers and persistently high rental costs in Shanghai.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Mapping Sex Offender Addresses: The Utility of the Alaska Sex Offender Registry as a Research Data Base [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The registration of sex offenders was part of a national effort to enhance public safety by permitting law enforcement officials to track the location of convicted sex offenders after their release.
