Electroholographic Spatial Light Modulators

Spatial Light Modulators and Applications, 1995
We present a new generic architecture for spatial light modulators (SLM), based on the concept of electroholography (EH). The pixel of the EH-SLM is a minute prestored volume hologram, the diffraction efficiency of which is controlled by a locally applied electric field.

Digital spatial light modulators

Nature Photonics, 2009
Spatial control of the phase and amplitude of a laser beam is useful for applications ranging from imaging and holography to interferometry and optical tweezers, reports Neil Savage.

Charge-transfer-plate spatial light modulators

Applied Optics, 1992
Charge-transfer-plate spatial light modulators (CTPSLM's) are a class of devices that employ chargetransfer plates as the interface between the charge-generation element and the light-modulation element. Both optically addressed and electrically addressed devices have been built.

Liquid crystal television spatial light modulators

Applied Optics, 1989
The spatial light modulation characteristics and capabilities of the liquid crystal television (LCTV) spatial light modulators (SLMs) are discussed. A comparison of Radio Shack, Epson, and Citizen LCTV SLMs is made.

Spatial light modulators for projection displays

Applied Optics, 1997
Spatial light modulators (SLM's) consisting of a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) film and a Bi(12)SiO(20) photoconductor are discussed and demonstrated. This device, which uses light scattering in the PDLC film, has several advantages including no polarizer, a low optical loss, and video-rate operation.

Phase calibration of spatially nonuniform spatial light modulators

Applied Optics, 2004
A new 512 x 512 pixel phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM) has been found to deviate from being flat by several wavelengths. Also, the retardation of the SLM relative to voltage varies across the device by as much as 0.25 wavelength. The birefringence of each pixel as a function of address voltage is measured from the intensity of the SLM between ...

Liquid Crystal Integrated Silicon Spatial Light Modulator

Spatial Light Modulators and Applications, 1990
Practical optical processing systems require compact and efficient electronically addressed spatial light modulators (EASLM). This can be achieved by integrating ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLC) with silicon-chip technology. The low voltage and power requirements of FLCs are consistent with large-scale silicon integration.

Performance evaluation of spatial light modulators

Applied Optics, 1979
An experimental test procedure and associated theoretical formulations are described for the evaluation of spatial light modulators (SLMs) for coherent optical computing. The experimental data included were obtained by us on Hughes liquid crystal and photo DKDP SLMs among others.

Spatial Light Modulators And Their Applications

SPIE Proceedings, 1987
The function of an optically addressed spatial light modulator (SLM) is to convert the intensity distribution of an incident scene into a coherent image, or into a high brigthness incoherent image. The applications of these transducers are therefore very large since they extend, from the field of coherent optical processing and computing (Incoherent to

Spatial light modulator apparatus

2011
A digital interface interconnected between a controller for a spatial light modulator device and a pattern generation subsystem. The digital interface comprises a clock which provides a clock signal and a logic device responsive to pattern image data output by the pattern generation subsystem and the clock signal and configured to assign pixels to the ...
