Modelling Spatial Regimes in Farms Technologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We exploit the information derived from geographical coordinates to endogenously identify spatial regimes in technologies that are the result of a variety of complex, dynamic interactions among site-specific environmental variables and farmer decision ...

Ultrasmall Platinum Nanoparticles for Radiation‐Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes a nanomedicine‐based strategy to enhance X‐ray radiotherapy for cancer treatment. Ultrasmall Pt‐NPs exhibit catalase‐like activity that may contribute to modulation of the tumor microenvironment and amplify interactions between radiation and biological matter, leading to increased DNA damage.

Spatial Externalities in Agriculture: Empirical Analysis, Statistical Identification, and Policy Implications [PDF]

open access: yes
Spatial externalities can affect economic welfare and landscape pattern by linking farm returns on adjoining parcels of land. While policy can be informed by research that documents spatial externalities, statistically quantifying the presence of ...

Mapping the current market dynamics: the case of Belgium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper analyses the demand and supply in the housing market of Belgium through several indices. On the basis of this analysis, housing market dynamics can be mapped in a spatial context. This mapping is based on a typology of municipalities.

Biocompatible but Antibacterial Mechanism of Graphene Oxide for Sustainable Antibiotics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene oxide (GO) exhibits selective antibacterial activity through specific interactions between its oxygen functional groups and bacterial membrane phospholipid POPG, causing membrane destabilization while maintaining biocompatibility. Model membrane studies and infected wound models in mice and pigs demonstrate effective bacterial suppression and ...

Gendarmes, policiers : quelles pratiques spatiales ?

Fluorescent Nanosensor for Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Detection in Gut Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a fluorescent nanosensor system with two optical modalities for detection of indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) gut metabolite: (1) blue‐emitting cationic conjugated polyelectrolyte (CP3) and (2) near‐infrared (NIR)‐emitting CP3‐wrapped single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT).

USING OPTIMAL CONTROL TO CHARACTERIZE THE ECONOMIC AND ECOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS OF SPATIAL EXTERNALITIES [PDF]

open access: yes
This study uses optimal control theory to examine the dynamic features of agricultural landscapes characterized by spatial externalites. A stylized system of agricultural production and groundwater flow is used to illustrate how spatial externalities ...
