dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Presence and task performance:an approach in the light of cognitive style [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The paper highlights the relationship between each of four bi-polar dimensions of personality cognitive style, such as extraversion–introversion, sensing–intuition, thinking–feeling and judging–perceiving, and the level of sense of presence experienced ...

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Reviewing Spatial Thinking in Geography Textbooks Questions from The Perspective of Spatial Thinking

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2019
Abstract As a science and a subject in school, geography is considered as having a major role to play in fostering spatial thinking. In the context of preparing for an educational reform transferring from content-based to competency-based approach in Vietnam now, spatial thinking is identified as one of the prominent competencies that ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
