Monitoring Spatial Coverage of Trending Topics in Twitter

Proceedings of the 28th International Conference on Scientific and Statistical Database Management, 2016
Most messages posted in Twitter usually discuss an ongoing event, triggering a series of tweets that together may constitute a trending topic (e.g., #election2012, #jesuischarlie, #oscars2016). Sometimes, such a topic may be trending only locally, assuming that related posts have a geographical reference, either directly geotagging them with exact ...

Spatial, Generational and Gendered Trends and Trend-Breaks in Mobility

2013
Long-term trends and potential trend conversions in mobility are addressed, with special focus on the Swedish population. Consistent with observations of “peak travel” reported from other countries, we find that growth in everyday travel has recently stagnated and declined. Trends differ significantly between demographic groups.

Trends in spatial disorientation research.

Aviation, space, and environmental medicine, 2002
Trends in spatial disorientation (SD) research over the past six decades were assessed by means of a literature review using four databases and three SD-related search terms. 347 SD-related papers were identified, 37% of which were in three categories: attitude displays, SD training, and SD incidence.

Spatial sampling in the presence of a trend

Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, 1981
Abstract The spatial sampling designs suggested by Quenouille (1949) are investigated under a number of trend assumptions, namely a linear trend, linear trend and periodic variation, and spatially correlated populations. The results obtained provide a planar analogue to the one-dimensional results appearing in Cochram (1977, Ch. e). Centrally located

Spatial Mapping of Ozone and SO2 Trends in Europe

Science of The Total Environment, 2010
This article investigates the spatial mapping of temporal trends in air quality for all of Europe. Such spatially distributed maps provide information for policy making and for understanding the spatial character of air quality trends. Previous trend studies have concentrated on individual, or groups of, monitoring sites looking at the trends of these.

Spatial trends in the sighting dates of British butterflies

International Journal of Biometeorology, 2003
A strong relationship between appearance dates and temperature has been demonstrated over two decades for most British butterflies. Given this relationship over time, this paper tests whether comparable spatial trends in timing are also apparent. A major survey of British butterflies is used to calculate mean sighting dates of adults across the country,
