Optimal Control of Molecular Motion Expressed Through Quantum Fluid Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, Volume 61, page- 043412, year- 2000, 2000
A quantum fluid dynamic control formulation is presented for optimally manipulating atomic and molecular systems. In quantum fluid dynamic the control quantum system is expressed in terms of the probability density and the quantum current. This choice of variables is motivated by the generally expected slowly varying spatial-temporal dependence of the ...

Algebraic characterization of autonomy and controllability of behaviours of spatially invariant systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We give algebraic characterizations of the properties of autonomy and of controllability of behaviours of spatially invariant dynamical systems, consisting of distributional solutions, that are periodic in the spatial variables, to a system pf partial differential equations corresponding to a polynomial matrix M in (C[\xi_1,...,\xi_d, \tau])^{m \times ...

Spatially Adaptive Variable Screening in Presurgical fMRI Data Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Accurate delineation of tumor-adjacent functional brain regions is essential for planning function-preserving neurosurgery. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is increasingly used for presurgical counseling and planning. When analyzing presurgical fMRI data, false negatives are more dangerous to the patients than false positives because ...

Model identification and parametric adaptive control of hydraulic manipulator with neighborhood field optimization

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications, 2021
The model identification and uncertain parameters estimation are common control problems in multi‐DOF manipulator system, since both model parametric uncertainties and unknown external disturbance often degrade the output performance and the close‐loop ...

Algebraic characterization of approximate controllability of behaviours of spatially invariant systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
An algebraic characterization of the property of approximate controllability is given, for behaviours of spatially invariant dynamical systems, consisting of distributional solutions, that are periodic in the spatial variables, to a system of homogeneous, linear, constant coefficient partial differential equations corresponding to a polynomial matrix.

Control of Spatially Heterogeneous and Time-Varying Cellular Reaction Networks: A New Summation Law [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical Biology, Vol. 225, pp. 477-487 (2003), 2002
A hallmark of a plethora of intracellular signaling pathways is the spatial separation of activation and deactivation processes that potentially results in precipitous gradients of activated proteins. The classical Metabolic Control Analysis (MCA), which quantifies the influence of an individual process on a system variable as the control coefficient ...

Fractional order sliding mode control based on single parameter adaptive law for nano‐positioning of piezoelectric actuators

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications, 2021
A fractional order sliding mode control (FOSMC) based on single parameter adaptive law for nano‐positioning of Piezoelectric Actuators (PEAs) is proposed.

Controlling factors for the spatial variability of soil magnetic susceptibility across England and Wales [PDF]

open access: yesEarth-Science Reviews, 2009
Abstract We review the nature and importance of soil factors implicated in the formation of secondary ferrimagnetic minerals in soils and palaeosols worldwide. The findings are examined with respect to temperate regions through a comprehensive analysis of over 5000 samples of surface soil from England and Wales taken from a 5 × 5 km grid.
