Multimode nonlinear dynamics in spatiotemporal mode-locked anomalous-dispersion lasers
Optics Letters, 2022Spatiotemporal mode-locking in a laser with anomalous dispersion is investigated. Mode-locked states with varying modal content can be observed, but we find it difficult to observe highly-multimode states. We describe the properties of these mode-locked states and compare them to the results of numerical simulations.

Narrow bandwidth spatiotemporal mode-locked Yb-doped fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2022We report a narrow bandwidth spatiotemporal mode-locked (STML) ytterbium-doped fiber laser, based on a homemade carbon nanotube/polyvinyl alcohol composite film and the multimode interference filtering effect. The wavelength-tunable narrow bandwidth STML operations combined with different pulse states are achieved, including single pulse, multiple ...

Wavelength-switchable spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber laser
2021 19th International Conference on Optical Communications and Networks (ICOCN), 2021We propose and demonstrate a wavelength-switchable spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber laser, which relies on spatial beam self-cleaning via the nonlinear Kerr effect to attain high pulse energy with near Gaussian output beam shape. Moreover, it is found that the wavelength-dependent self-cleaning behavior observed at different wavelengths has ...

Switchable and spacing tunable dual-wavelength spatiotemporal mode-locked fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2021We report a switchable and spacing tunable dual-wavelength spatiotemporal mode-locked (STML) laser based on the multimode interference filtering effect in an all-fiber linear cavity. The dual-wavelength STML operations combined with different pulse patterns are achieved.

Observation of soliton molecules in a spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2018We report on the first experimental observation, to the best of our knowledge, of soliton molecules in a spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber (MMF) laser. By adjusting the waveplates inside the cavity, not only the spatiotemporal mode-locking state with a stable single pulse but also soliton molecules are observed.

Pulse dynamics in spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber lasers
2018 Asia Communications and Photonics Conference (ACP), 2018We report on the experimental observation of multiple-soliton (harmonic mode-locking, multiple pulses, etc.) and period-timing bifurcations in spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber lasers. The transition of operation states, from uniformity output to period-timing bifurcations, then to chaos is also observed.

Spatial Beam Cleaning in Ytterbium Spatiotemporal Mode-Locked Fiber Laser
2025 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)Spatiotemporal mode-locked (STML) lasers based on multimode fibers enable the simultaneous locking of longitudinal and transverse laser modes [1]. These light sources permit scaling up the generated pulse energy and exhibit complex spatiotemporal dynamics [4].

High-energy Spatiotemporal Self-Mode-locked Fiber Laser
CLEO 2024We demonstrate an all-fiber spatiotemporal self-mode-locked fiber laser with 4.23 nJ high pulse energy and 74 mW low mode-locked threshold. The soliton pulse is obtained with multimode beam profiles and clear Kelly sidebands.
