Diving behaviour of whale sharks in relation to a predictable food pulse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present diving data for four whale sharks in relation to a predictable food pulse (reef fish spawn) and an analysis of the longest continuous fine-resolution diving record for a planktivorous shark.

Disengaging the Engine: Histone Deacetylases 1 and 2‐Mediated Acetylation of Hexokinase‐2 Regulates Energy Metabolism in Microglia Following Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that HDAC1/2 knockout in microglia alleviates neurological deficits, preserves white matter, and accelerates hematoma clearance after ICH. HDAC1/2 inhibition reduces HK2 acetylation, shifts metabolism from glycolysis to fatty acid oxidation, reduces inflammation, and enhances phagocytosis.

Sandfish hatchery techniques [PDF]

open access: yes
Sandfish is arguably the most commercially valuable of the tropical species of sea cucumber that are processed into bΩche-de-mer. It is widely distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific, occurring in shallow inshore areas where it is easily accessible to ...

IL1R2 Marks and Sorts a Spermatogonial Stem Cell Population Critical for Restoring Spermatogenesis Upon Interruption in Mammals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) provide critical support to spermatogenesis. Here, the author established Il1r2 as a sorting marker for SSCs, with which further insights into the SSC heterogeneity and dynamic features can be obtained. They also confirmed findings in both mouse and human, thus validating IL1R2 as the surface marker for isolating and ...

Reproductive life-history strategies in a species-rich assemblage of Amazonian electric fishes.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The reproductive biology of only a small fraction of Neotropical freshwater fishes has been described, and detailed comparative studies of reproductive life-history variation in the Neotropical ichthyofauna are lacking.

Maturation, Spawning Period, and Fecundity of the White Crappie, Pomoxis annularis Rafinesque, in Beaver Reservoir, Arkansas [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Gonosomatic indices and ovum diameter frequency distributions showed that the Beaver Reservoir white crappie spawns from late April through May. During the spawning season females release eggs more than once.

Pre‐Encoded IFN‐I Sensitivity Exacerbates Memory T Cell Senescence in Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Type I interferon (IFN‐I) signaling promotes p21‐dependent cell cycle arrest in senescent tumor‐specific memory T cells, resulting in poor proliferative responses and solid tumor regression during cancer vaccination. Conversely, IFNα/β receptor blockade reinvigorates T cell proliferation to regress solid tumors and is more effective with increasing ...

Reproductive life history of sablefish (Anoplopoma fimbria) from the U.S. Washington coast.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Sablefish (Anoplopoma fimbria) is a marine groundfish that supports valuable fisheries in the North Pacific Ocean and holds promise for marine aquaculture. Limited information is available, however, about its reproductive biology.

Construction of a Multitissue Cell Atlas Reveals Cell‐Type‐Specific Regulation of Molecular and Complex Phenotypes in Pigs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This research conducts an in‐depth investigation of cell‐type‐specific regulatory mechanisms underlying molecular and complex phenotypes through integrative analysis of multitissue single‐nucleus RNA sequencing, bulk RNA‐seq, and genome‐wide association study (GWAS) data in pigs.
