IEEE Network, 1999
The deployment of new network architectures, services, and protocols is often manual, ad hoc, and time-consuming. We introduce "spawning networks," a new class of programmable networks that automate the life cycle process for the creation, deployment, and management of network architectures.

Spawning of Haddock in Captivity
Nature, 1967The courtship behaviour and spawning habits of haddock have been observed for the first time. Whether the behaviour of haddock in the sea is the same remains to be determined.

Coral spawning and spawn-slick observation in the Philippines
Marine Biodiversity, 2017Knowledge on coral reproduction has implications for the restoration and recovery of degraded coral communities. Few studies on coral spawning timing and extent of synchrony have been recorded in the most biodiverse and disturbed coral reef ecosystems of the Coral Triangle.

Advanced Spawning (Out-of the Season Spawning)
2016In this chapter the ‘advanced spawning’ (in the literature also referred to as ‘out-of season spawning’) operation of wild and pond-reared Eurasian perch was described. Practical tips (involving the most important aspects of a successful out-of-season spawning protocol) on particular phases of induction of gonadal development (among others by the ...

During recent decades, new insights regarding the spawning migration of lampreys have been gained due to advances in technology and growing interest in this key life history phase. The development of miniaturized active and passive transmitters has led to detailed information on the timing and extent of lamprey migrations.

At what age do Atlantic salmon and brown trout become sexually mature, and which factors and mechanisms determine the seasonal timing of maturation and spawning? How are resources allocated to the development of sexual characters and reproduction, and how do they maximize their reproductive output? This chapter reflects on these issues.

Biological Reviews, 1924
Summary.(1) The extrusion of the genital products of echinoids is due to the contraction of muscle fibres in the gonad walls, more abundant in the ovary than in the testis. The contraction of these muscles can be artificially stimulated.(2) A spawning male stimulates ripe individuals of both sexes which are in the neighbourhood to spawn.
