Phonons mimicking doubly special relativity kinematics

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
Collective excitations (phonons) in barotropic, irrotational, inviscid fluids exhibit an effective Lorentz invariance, where the sound speed plays the role of the invariant speed of light in special relativity.

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Born–Infeld electrodynamics in very special relativity

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
In this work we discuss the properties of a modified Born–Infeld electrodynamics in the framework of very special relativity (VSR). This proposal allows us to study VSR mass effects in a gauge-invariant context of nonlinear electrodynamics.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

MicroRNA 196a contributes to the aggressiveness of esophageal adenocarcinoma through the MYC/TERT/NFκB axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
mir‐196a promotes Esophagus Adenocarcinoma aggressiveness. On one hand, mir‐196a targets the valosin‐containing protein (VCP) mRNA, causing the accumulation of c‐MYC protein that leads to high amounts of TERT. On the other hand, mir‐196a targets the inhibitor of NFκB (NFKBIA).

Schwinger model à la Very Special Relativity

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
In this work, we show that Lorentz invariant theories in 1+1 dimensions admit new terms inspired by Very Special Relativity (VSR) theories. We have studied the Schwinger model in VSR.

Bounds on an energy-dependent and observer-independent speed of light from violations of locality

open access: yes, 2010
We show that models with deformations of special relativity that have an energy-dependent speed of light have non-local effects. The requirement that the arising non-locality is not in conflict with known particle physics allows us to derive strong ...

The anticancer effect of the HDAC inhibitor belinostat is enhanced by inhibitors of Bcl‐xL or Mcl‐1 in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The pan‐HDAC inhibitor belinostat increases the expression of the pro‐apoptotic proteins Bim, Puma, and Noxa and induces apoptosis in ovarian cancer cell lines and patient‐derived tumor organoids when used at high concentrations. Moreover, inhibiting the anti‐apoptotic proteins Bcl‐xL or Mcl‐1 sensitizes these preclinical models to the cytotoxic effect

Tense, Perspectival Properties, and Special Relativity

open access: yesManuscrito
Tensism is the view that tense is not merely a property of language and the mind (narrowly individuated), but of the world itself. Perspectivalism extends this idea to all perspectival properties be they person (e.g. first person vs.
