Special relativity and interferometers
Physical Review A, 1988A new generation of gravitational wave detectors is expected to be based on interferometers. Yurke et al. (1986) introduced a class of interferometers characterized by SU(1,1) which can in principle achieve a phase sensitivity approaching 1/N, where N is thte total number of photons entering the interferometer.

Special relativity: an introduction
2020The main concepts of mechanics and electromagnetism in the framework of special relativity are reviewed. Relativistic kinematics is analyzed, by starting from the very beginning of the theory. The relativistic form of Newton’s laws is successively deduced.

Rigidity in special relativity
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2004Summary: We discuss the finite version of rigid motions in special relativity. Focusing on the extension of the size of a rigid motion, we investigate the reflexive and transitive properties of rigid motions. We show that rigid rotation of a three-dimensional object is impossible while its rigid translation is possible.

A genesis of special relativity
International Journal of Modern Physics D, 2015The genesis of special relativity is intimately related to the development of the theory of light propagation. When optical phenomena were described, there are typically two kinds of theories: (i) One based on light rays and light particles and (ii) one considering the light as waves.

Two years ago I pointed out1 what appears to be an inconsistency in the kinematical part of Einstein's special theory of relativity. I repeated this in a slightly different form in a volume published in December last2. No comment has been made on the former publication, either spontaneously or in response to individual requests, and in none of the many

Relative Simultaneity in the Special Relativity
Philosophy of Science, 1977In this paper a method is proposed for empirically determining simultaneity at a distance within the special theory of relativity. It is argued that this method is independent of Einstein's signalling method and provides a basis for denying the conventionality of distant simultaneity.

The Continuum in Special Relativity
Physical Review, 1951A relativistically covariant formalism describing the behavior of a continuous medium is presented. A method is developed for resolving covariant expressions into space and time components. One obtains by this method from a symmetric energy-momentum tensor, a scalar invariant energy density, a vector heat flux, and the stress tensor.

Special relativity in general relativity?
Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1974Starting from the metric in harmonic coordinates for a test particle m1 around a heavy particle m2(m2≫m1) at rest, the EIH Lagrangian is recovered by making a Lorentz transformation, followed by a canonical transformation and an appropriate symmetrization in the two masses. This raises the question of a special relativity content in general relativity,
