Species Identification Through DNA “Barcodes”
Genetic Testing and Molecular Biomarkers, 2009Conventional methods for forensic species identification are mainly based on immunological procedures, which have limited applications for old and degraded specimens. The mitochondrial cytochrome b gene sequence has emerged in forensics among molecular methods.

Identification of Morphic Species
Sprin Multidisciplinary Journal in Pashto, Persian & English, 2023This study entitled “Introduction to Morphemic Pairs” is a critical research on the classification of morphemes that are not single morphemes but pairs of morphemes in the field of morphology. In order to make the subject clearer, this article has covered all those morphemes which are considered as single morphs by the researchers; however, they are ...

Rapid identification of Mycobacterium species
Research in Microbiology, 1989Identification of Mycobacterium species is currently a long and fastidious procedure. We have developed a rapid (5-h) standard method using the API-ZYM system and rapid nitratase, urease and catalase tests. Pigmentation and growth rate were noted (but were only necessary for complete identification of 6% of strains).

Species identification and description
2022Abstract Species identification (establishing an affiliation of a sampled specimen to a particular taxon) and description (introduction of a new taxon) are two of the basic tasks in taxonomy, commonly known as alpha-taxonomy. This chapter reviews practices which have shaped contemporary taxonomy in Odonata at taxonomic and nomenclature ...

Immunological Identification of Fungal Species
2016Immunodetection is described in this chapter as a technique for producing specific antibodies for antigen detection of the major human fungal pathogens. In the case of Candida spp., heat-killed cells are used to immunize mice over a couple of weeks and then splenocytes are isolated and further fused with myelomas to easily propagate the antibodies ...

The chapter deals with the methodology to be followed for a reliable identification of the wood species present in timber structures. The determination of the species is a basic information for any analysis on wooden artifacts. Specifically for in situ timber structures diagnosis, the determination of the species is crucial for the correct ...

The identification of Listeria species
International Journal of Food Microbiology, 1997The purpose of this study was to compare methods for the identification of Listeria species. Three hundred and fifty cultures representing the six species of Listeria were tested using conventional sugar fermentation and haemolytic reactions, as well as the hydrolysis of the DL-alanine beta-naphthylamide (DLABN), and the API Listeria identification ...

Australian marsupial species identification
Forensic Science International: Genetics Supplement Series, 2011Abstract Wildlife crime, the illegal trade in animals and animal products, is a growing concern and valued at up to US$20 billion globally per year. Australia is often targeted for its unique fauna, proximity to South East Asia and porous borders.

Species Identification of Calliphorid (Diptera) Eggs
Journal of Medical Entomology, 1995Eggs of 11 forensically important calliphorid species belonging to six genera were studied with SEM for useful diagnostic characters. Identification was confounded by the following three factors: (1) variability within and among populations of the same species, (2) similarities among some congeneric species, and (3) similarities between some species of

Towards the electrochemical identification of species
Chem. Commun., 2011Different properties of surface grafted ds-DNA films resulting from the presence of base-pair mismatches provide the basis for an electrochemical method for the identification of species.
