Inferring latent structure in ecological communities via barcodes [PDF]
Accelerating global biodiversity loss has highlighted the role of complex relationships and shared patterns among species in mediating responses to environmental changes. The structure of ecological communities signals their fragility or robustness more so than individual niches of species.

ALS plasma biomarkers reveal neurofilament and pTau correlate with disease onset and progression
Abstract Objective We performed a pilot screen to assess the utility of the NULISA™ (Nucleic‐acid‐Linked Immuno‐Sandwich Assay) platform in the identification of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) biomarkers. Methods Plasma from 86 individuals (48 ALS, 18 asymptomatic C9orf72 repeat expansion carriers (AsymC9), and 20 healthy controls) was analyzed ...

Geometry and stability of species complexes: larger species speciate less often [PDF]
Species complexes are groups of closely related populations exchanging genes through dispersal. We study the dynamics of the structure of species complexes in a class of metapopulation models where demes can exchange genetic material through migration and diverge through the accumulation of new mutations.

Claustrum Volume Is Reduced in Multiple Sclerosis and Predicts Disability
ABSTRACT Objective The claustrum is a small, thin structure of predominantly gray matter with broad connectivity and enigmatic function. Little is known regarding the impact of claustrum pathology in multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods This study assessed whether claustrum volume was reduced in MS and whether reductions were associated with specific ...
