Are oestrus odours species specific?
Behavioural Brain Research, 2006Adult male rats were exposed to faeces odours of three animal species (rat, fox and horse). They displayed erections in the presence of faeces from oestrous females (whatever the species). In addition, fox faeces (whatever the gender or hormonal status) elicited an expected freezing reaction.

Species-specific and Non-species-specific Elemental Trends in Tree Rings
Doklady Earth Sciences, 2021The goal was to find out how consistent the elemental distributions in tree rings are. The dataset was received for a long-term afforestation experiment that included even soil conditions and a variety of conifers (Scots pine, Norway spruce, Siberian pine, and Siberian larch) growing in pure stands.

Species specificity in protein synthesis
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1967The phenomenon of species specificity in poly U-directed cell-free protein synthesis (whereby combinations of ribosomes of one organism with supernatant enzymes from a different one are sometimes inactive) was studied in the case of the amino acid-incorporating systems prepared from Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Saccharomyces cerevisiae ...

Towards Species-specific Antifolates
Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2006Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) plays an essential role in cellular biochemistry and has been a well-recognized drug target for over fifty years. Antifolate inhibitors of DHFR, including clinically used therapeutics such as methotrexate, trimethoprim, and pyrimethamine have been successful as anticancer, antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic ...

Species-specific proteins in fossils
Naturwissenschaften, 1980With a solid-phase radioimmunoassay it has been possible to detect species-specific collagen and albumin fossils as old as 1.9 million years. This technique may provide new data on the genetic relations of fossil species to each other and to living forms.

Histones: Species and Tissue Specificity
Science, 1964Within a given species (rat, mouse, guinea pig, rabbit) the histones of brain, liver, and kidney are indistinguishable on disc electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gels. However, characteristic species differences were observed. In the immature rat, the histones of brain and liver, while very similar to each other, differ from those of the adult.

Species Specific Pharmacokinetics of Rolitetracycline
Journal of Veterinary Medicine Series A, 1995SummaryComparative studies on some selected pharmacokinetic parameters of rolitetracycline (effective antimicrobial activity levels) in sheep, pigs, rabbits, chickens and pigeons were carried out after intravenous administration of the drug at a dose of 5 mg/kg. The results revealed that a two‐compartment open model was usually optimal.

Species Specificity in Fertilization
1974In his classical monograph, Problems of Fertilization, Lillie (1919) devoted a chapter to the problem of specificity in fertilization which, nearly 40 years later, Rothschild (1956) commended to all students of fertilization. In summing up his own chapter on “Specificity”, Rothschild considered the only advances to have been made since Lillie’s ...
