Translocated Species Exceed Alien Species in Homogenizing Freshwater Fish Assemblages

Global Change Biology
ABSTRACTHuman‐driven introductions of nonnative species are accelerating biotic homogenization, threatening the distinctiveness of biota worldwide. However, the patterns and drivers of homogenization caused by nonnatives originating from other ecoregions (alien species) and those originating from the same ecoregion as natives (translocated species ...

Overview of plant species translocations in Luxembourg

Bulletin de la Société des Naturalistes luxembourgeois
In Luxembourg, 34 % of native plants and archaeophytes are considered threatened or regionally extinct. Species translocations have been implemented in Luxembourg for more than 25 years as a conservation strategy to counteract biodiversity loss. In this overview, we have compiled data on conservation actions implemented between 1997 and 2023.

Absorption and translocation of glufosinate on four weed species

Weed Science, 1997
Greenhouse and laboratory experiments were conducted to evaluate foliar absorption, translocation, and efficacy of glufosinate on four weed species. The rate of glufosinate required to reduce shoot dry weight by 50% (GR50) varied between weed species.

Cadmium Accumulation and Translocation in Four Emergent Wetland Species

Water, Air, & Soil Pollution, 2010
Emergent wetland plant species may exhibit different capacity for phytoremediation when used in constructed wetlands. To evaluate cadmium (Cd) remediation capacity of four emergent wetland species [Baumea juncea (R.Br.) Palla, Baumea articulata (R.Br.) S.T. Blake, Schoenoplectus validus (M.Vahl) A. & D.Love, and Juncus subsecundus N.A.

Uptake and translocation of plutonium in two plant species using hydroponics

Environmental Pollution, 2002
This study presents determinations of the uptake and translocation of Pu in Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) and sunflower (Helianthus annuus) from Pu contaminated solution media. The initial activity levels of Pu were 18.50 and 37.00 Bq ml(-1), for Pu-nitrate [239Pu(NO3)4] and for Pu-citrate [239Pu(C6H5O7)+] in nutrient solution.

Restoring population structure and dynamics in translocated species: learning from wild populations

Plant Ecology, 2015
Conservation of Leucojum aestivum, a wetland-dependent species distributed in Europe and west Asia, should aim to reduce the fragmentation of wild stands, through the establishment of new populations. However, density-dependent dynamics occur in L. aestivum. For instance, fruit set and seed set increase with increasing plant density.

TRANSLOCATION OF URANIN WITHIN THE LIVING OVULES OF SELECTED SPECIES

American Journal of Botany, 1981
Three dictolydonous species having distinctive ovular characteristics were chosen for observation of uranin uptake into their living ovules. Nicotiana tabacum, which has anatropous ovules, showed uranin uptake in a nondifferential manner. Translocation occurred progressively from the funiculus toward the micropylar and chalazal portions at ...

Alien and translocated fish species in lotic ecosystems of Greece

2020
