Surface heat transfer due to sliding bubble motion

open access: yes, 2009
The presence of a rising bubble in a fluid can greatly enhance heat transfer from adjacent heated surfaces such as in shell and tube heat exchangers and chemical reactors.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

The integration of heat pipe technology into natural ventilation systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this research was to integrate heat pipe technology into natural ventilation air streams to provide passive cooling in regions of hot arid climatic conditions without the use of mechanical assistance.

A nonlocal phase-field model with nonconstant specific heat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We prove the existence, uniqueness, thermodynamic consistency, global boundedness from both above and below, and continuous data dependence for a solution to an integrodifferential model for nonisothermal phase transitions under nonhomogeneous mixed ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Temperature and Moisture Dependence of the Specific Heat of High Performance Concrete

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2001
The specific heat of two types of high performance concrete was measured in the temperature range from 20 °C to 1000 °C and in the moisture range from dry material to saturation water content.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Specific Heat of Mn-doped NaxCoO2 yH2O

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]C(T) of NaxCo0.99Mn0.01O2 yH2O is studied to reveal more details on the nature of the doped Mn ions and the Tc suppression. The extra specific heat contribution in NaxCo0.99Mn0.01O2 yH2O manifests the induced local magnetic moment due to ...
