Detection of specific IgE to quinolones

Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2004
In the last years, immediate reactions to quinolone antibiotics have been observed with increasing frequency, mainly urticaria, angioedema, and shock. No test was available because of the high incidence of false-positive results on skin tests. Thus the pathogenesis, value of diagnostic procedures, and cross-reactivity have not been evaluated in a ...

Anti-IgE Autoantibodies Hide Specific IgE and Are Mistaken for Specific IgG

1991
In nonhyposensitized patients, a large proportion of specific IgE occurred in immune complexes with anti-IgE autoantibodies. These autoantibodies were mistaken for “specific IgG” in different immunoassays, such as a dot immunoassay and a RAST. Heating of immune complexes, consisting of IgE and anti-IgE autoantibodies, liberated more IgE resulting in a ...

Influence of Chemotherapy on Allergen-Specific IgE

International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 2018
Background: Atopy is defined as excess allergen-specific IgE (A-IgE). IgE is produced by plasma cells that differentiate from allergen-specific B cells. B cells are known to be killed by chemotherapy; however, it is not known whether A-IgE-secreting plasma cells are killed or inhibited by chemotherapy.

Allergen-specific ELISA for horse IgE

Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 1983
An enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA) for measuring horse IgE specific to ovalbumin, bencylpenicilloic acid and odinitrocarboxyphenol is described. We used a sandwich type of ELISA by which horse serum was incubated in antigen-coated tubes containing one additional polystyrene ball, followed by rabbit anti horse IgE serum.

Isotype-specific regulation of the IgE response by IgE-binding factors

Immunology Today, 1983
The IgE response is regulated by antigen-speck helper and suppressor T cells. Here Kimishige Ishizaka and his colleagues discuss recent work which indicates that soluble IgE-binding T-cell factors provide an additional, isotypespecific level of control on the antibody response.
