Space System Specific Impulse

Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1961
Abstract : The system specific impulse (Iss) was determined to be the equivalent of specific impulse (Isp) of an idealized system having the same net effectiveness as the actual system but with zero mass of all structural equipment except the payload.

The Specifics of Closed-Loop Impulse Control

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2014
Abstract This paper deals with the problem of designing feedback solutions for systems with impulsive control inputs which meets increasing demand. It emphasizes the specifics of such solutions. Their description opens routes for effective calculation and application.

Domain-Specific Relationships in Sexual Measures of Impulsive Behavior

Archives of Sexual Behavior, 2018
Impulsivity is an important construct for understanding sexual behaviors, but behavioral and self-report measures of impulsivity often are not correlated. One possible explanation for this is that there is little shared variance in the measures because behavioral measures index impulsivity by asking questions about monetary preferences, while self ...

Dimensions and disorder specificity of impulsivity in pathological gambling

Addictive Behaviors, 2014
Impulsivity is a core characteristic of pathological gambling (PG), even though the underlying structure and disorder specificity is unclear. This study aimed to explore different dimensions of impulsivity in a clinical sample including PG. Furthermore, we aimed to test which alterations of the impulsivity-related dimensions are disorder specific for ...

Specific Afferent Impulses and Cutaneous Sensibility

The Journal of General Psychology, 1932

Understanding impulse bandwidth specifications of EMI receivers

1999 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatability. Symposium Record (Cat. No.99CH36261), 2003
When measuring emissions with an EMI receiver or spectrum analyzer, different signal types may be encountered. Their classification as narrowband or broadband is dependent on the signal's spectral distribution relative to the receiver's resolution bandwidth used for the measurement.

Coaxial plasma thrusters for high specific impulse propulsion

Conference on Advanced SEI Technologies, 1991
A fundamental basis for coaxial plasma thruster performance is presented and the steady-state, ideal MHD properties of a coaxial thruster using an annular magnetic nozzle are discussed. Formulas for power usage, thrust, mass flow rate, and specific impulse are acquired and employed to assess thruster performance.

Specific Impulse Definition for Ablative Laser Propulsion

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2005
The term “specific impulse” is so ingrained in the field of rocket propulsion that it is unlikely that any fundamental argument would be taken seriously for its removal. It is not an ideal measure but it does give an indication of the amount of mass flow (mass loss/time), as in fuel rate, required to produce a measured thrust over some time period ...
