Trees, 2006
Spatial variation in sapwood area to leaf area ratio (Huber value, HV) and specific leaf area (SLA) was examined in branches of closed-canopy trees of silver birch (Betula pendula Roth). HV increased basipetally within a crown and decreased with increasing branch order, but exhibited no significant radial trend along a primary branch.

Specific Leaf Area Along a Nitrogen Fertilization Gradient
The American Midland Naturalist, 2000Specific leaf area was measured for three dominant perennial grass species in a long term nitrogen fertilization experiment in an abandoned field in Minnesota. The specific leaf area differed among the species and increased with increasing levels of nitrogen fertilization. This increase in specific leaf area was up to 82% for Agropyron repens and shows

Leaf Area Estimation by Semantic Segmentation of Point Cloud of Tomato Plants
2021 IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision Workshops (ICCVW), 2021Growth monitoring is an essential task in agriculture for obtaining good crops and sustainable management of cultivation. Though it is essential, it is also a hard task requiring much labor and working time, and many automation approaches have been ...

Journal of Experimental Botany, 1993
The contact areas (on a molecular scale) between aqueous solutions and leaf surfaces have been measured in order to obtain information on the actual areas effective in cuticular transport. For this purpose, monolayer adsorption of pentaclilorophenol (PCP) was used on leaf surfaces and on artificial surfaces.

Measurement of specific leaf area
Leaf specific surface area (SLA) plays a key role in many studies on plants, providing valuable information on their growth and adaptation strategies. Its measurement follows a well-defined process, which includes leaf sampling, acquisition and analysis of digital images, and subsequent data processing.Latilla, Leonardo +2 more

Foliage height influences specific leaf area of three conifer species
Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 2003Specific leaf area (SLA), the ratio of projected leaf area to leaf dry mass, is a critical parameter in many forest process models. SLA describes the efficiency with which the leaf captures light relative to the biomass invested in the leaf. It increases from top to bottom of a canopy, but it is unclear why.
