Effect of Specific Mechanical Energy on Properties of Extruded Protein‐Starch Mixtures
Cereal Chemistry, 2002ABSTRACTThe effect of the specific mechanical energy (SME) during extrusion of a protein‐starch mixture was studied by analyzing the glass transition temperature (Tg) and starch gelatinization. We found that the SME values of 344 to 2108 kJ/kg did not significantly change the Tg of the product.

Standardization of Mechanical Specific Energy Equations and Nomenclature
IADC/SPE International Drilling Conference and Exhibition, 2022Abstract This paper recommends standardized names and equations for the two most common uses of Mechanical Specific Energy (MSE) concepts: "Total MSE" and "Downhole MSE". These names and their equations should be used uniformly in all applications, including electronic drilling recorder (EDR) pick lists, rig site surveillance ...

Pea protein is a popular source of plant-based protein, though its application in meat and dairy analog products is still lacking. This is particularly true in the development of products with fatty and creamy textures. Cold denaturation may be a way to induce these types of textures in food since this is a universal phenomenon in protein that occurs ...

Tracking Drilling Efficiency Using Hydro-Mechanical Specific Energy
SPE/IADC Drilling Conference and Exhibition, 2009Abstract Over the last few years, different types of bits have been introduced to meet the challenges of steerable as well as rotary steerable systems; and it is imperative that bits be utilized optimally in these systems. As challenges increase with increasing depths, it becomes even more important for one to efficiently utilize the ...

Agitation Tools Enables Significant Reduction in Mechanical Specific Energy
SPE Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2012Abstract Mechanical Specific Energy (MSE) is a term used by the oilfield drilling industry to describe several formulae quantifying the energy input within a drilling system. MSE mainly describes the Mechanical (WOB and Torque), for a given unit (Length, area or mass), and the energy required to do the work (i.e. force, time, distance).

Maximizing Drill Rates with Real-Time Surveillance of Mechanical Specific Energy
Proceedings of SPE/IADC Drilling Conference, 2005Abstract The concept of Mechanical Specific Energy (MSE) has been used effectively in lab environments to evaluate the drilling efficiency of bits. MSE analysis has also been used in a limited manner to investigate specific inefficiencies in field operations.3,4 In early 2004, the operator initiated a pilot to determine whether the ...
