Correlation between Frictional Force, Interface Temperature and Specific Wear Rate of Fibre Polymer Composites

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Friction is classified as the main dominant element having an adverse influence on materials' lifespan and performance. Friction between any sliding contacts is continually accompanied by heat generation and shear force. The surface deterioration produces destruction in the component and reduced the life expectancy of the components.

Investigations on effectiveness of transfer layer on specific wear rate and coefficient of friction during dry sliding of hybrid polymer matrix composites

Polymer Composites, 2021
AbstractThe formation of transfer layer especially in polymer‐based composites is unavoidable and essential to investigate the effectiveness of transfer layer under working conditions as it decides the material removal between mating parts. The main aim of the present work is to analyze the performance of transfer layer on specific wear rate (SWR) and ...

Improving the specific wear rate and coefficient of friction of polyamide 6 polymer and its composite by adding wax under self‐operation conditions

Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, 2023
AbstractPolyamide polymers are widely used in tribological areas in a wide range of industries. The purpose of this study is to extend the tribological life of this material. For this purpose, composite materials were produced by adding solid lubricants such as graphite and wax to the polyamide 6 (PA6) matrix at different rates, and the synergistic ...

Wear rates and specific energies of some ceramic, cermet and metallic coatings determined in the Coriolis erosion tester

Wear, 1999
Abstract A series of ceramic, cermet and metallic coatings of known resistance to slurry jet erosion has been subjected to sliding bed wear using a 10 wt.% aqueous slurry of 80 grit crushed alumina particles in the Coriolis erosion tester. Wear scar cross-sections have been measured and specific energies for material removal calculated for these ...

Investigation of specific absorption rate of electromagnetic fields at 100 MHz in the head of a person wearing hoodless protection garment

IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2003, 2003
This paper presents a study of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) induced in the head of a person wearing a protection garment without a hood. Electromagnetic fields in the head are determined using a combination of the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method and the Method of Moments (MoM).

Flexural and Specific Wear Rate of Seawater Aged Bamboo, Jute and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer Hybrid Composites

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2019
Abstract Natural fiber reinforced polymer composites have been used in different industries because of its high specific strength, modulus, cheaper and biodegradability. However, natural fiber reinforced polymer composites have lower mechanical properties and degrades its mechanical properties through seawater aging or moisture absorption than the ...
