Speckle Interferometry And Differential Speckle Interferometry Using Cross-Spectrum Techniques
Optical Engineering, 1986A cross-spectrum analysis technique that makes it possible to compute an unbiased estimate of the speckle pattern Wiener spectrum has been developed at the University of Nice. Using a one-dimensional interferometer, the technique has given results on several subjects such as the study of atmospheric modulation transfer function, including anisotropy ...

Measuring Microvibrations by Heterodyne Speckle Interferometry
Optics Letters, 1981In-plane as well as out-of-plane displacements and vibrations of objects with diffusely scattering surfaces are measured in real time. Microvibrations with amplitudes down to 1 nm and frequencies up to 5 MHz were analyzed at a spatial resolution of 35microm.

Interferometry with a Speckle Carrier
Journal of Modern Optics, 1989Abstract The interferometric properties of two types of images are investigated. One image is formed by conventional holographic interferometry, the other using a speckle carrier technique. The second process employs a diffuse reference beam, with the spherical carrier being replaced by a speckle carrier in the register state.

Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry
Topical Meeting on Holography, 1986Holographic workstations are now enabling the advantages of Holographic Interferometry (HI) to be taken outside research laboratories and placed alongside manufacturing equipment. Most rigidization problems have been overcome but two handicaps still limit its widespread application.

Abstract A number of speckle shear methods and their applications to ndt are discussed. Experiments using multiple apertures with custom-made optical elements have shown that in-plane displacement, slope and curvature patterns can be obtained by filtering through appropriate haloes.

The Story of Speckles in Interferometry
2000In this paper, I will tell you the story of speckles in interferometry from my personal point of view and based on my own experience with speckles and interferometry over the last 30 years. Although speckle phenomena had been observed and investigated since the later part of the nineteenth century by scientists interested in optics, like Newton, von ...

Astronomical Speckle Interferometry
Joint Topical Meeting on Information Processing in Astronomy and Optics, 1983Antoine Labeyrie first pointed out in 1970 that short exposure pictures of astronomical objects can be analyzed in a simple way to recover information about the objects' structures down to the diffraction limit of a telescope. Labeyrie's method, which rather quickly came to be called speckle interferometry, takes advantage of the convolution theorem to

Differential Speckle Interferometry
Optica Acta: International Journal of Optics, 1982This paper describes an experiment in narrow spectral band speckle interferometry, which uses variations in the spectrum across the astronomical object under study, to obtain information of the object on the millisecond of arc scale. We plan to apply this experiment to the study of spectroscopic double stars, stellar rotation, spectroscopic and ...

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the nature of the speckle pattern and defines some of its basic characteristics. The speckle effect in optics is the generation of a random intensity pattern formed when coherent light is scattered by a rough surface or is diffused by a medium containing scattering centers.
