Kernel-based stochastic collocation for the random two-phase Navier-Stokes equations

open access: yes, 2018
In this work, we apply stochastic collocation methods with radial kernel basis functions for an uncertainty quantification of the random incompressible two-phase Navier-Stokes equations.

The Combined Effects of Variable Viscosity and Thermal Conductivity of An Unsteady Casson Fluid Flow Along a Vertical Porous Channel With Convective Cooling Walls, Using the Bivariate Spectral Local Linearization Method

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the combined impact of different thermal conductivity and viscosity on unsteady non‐Newtonian Casson fluid flow of incompressible, electrical conductivity in a porous vertical channel with convective cooling walls, uniform magnetic field, and constant pressure gradient.

Application of Bessel functions and Jacobian free Newton method to solve time-fractional Burger equation

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering, 2019
In this paper, a novel method based on Bessel functions (BF), generalized Bessel functions (GBF), the collocation method and the Jacobian free Newton-Krylov sub-space (JFNK) will be introduced to solve the nonlinear time-fractional Burger equation.

A Novel Optimized Local Linearization Hybrid Block Method for Chaotic Systems: Applications to Stretch‐Twist‐Fold Flow and Bond Orbital Chaotic Attractors

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The numerical approximation of nonlinear chaotic differential systems, such as the modified stretch‐twist‐fold (STF) flow and multi‐bond chaotic attractors, presents a significant challenge due to their sensitive dependence on initial conditions and complex dynamics where analytical solutions are unattainable.

A dramaturgy of uncertainty: Transdisciplinary manoeuvres across forestry and theatre

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The uncertainties of climate change mean that forestry adaptation strategies are often complex and contested. Research has suggested that there is an interest in the forestry sector for facilitated dialogue about uncertainty (de Pellegrin Llorente et al., 2023).

Chebyshev Spectral Collocation Method for Population Balance Equation in Crystallization

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
The population balance equation (PBE) is the main governing equation for modeling dynamic crystallization behavior. In the view of mathematics, PBE is a convection–reaction equation whose strong hyperbolic property may challenge numerical methods ...

Application of Legendre spectral-collocation method to delay differential and stochastic delay differential equation

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
Explicit solutions to delay differential equation (DDE) and stochastic delay differential equation (SDDE) can rarely be obtained, therefore numerical methods are adopted to solve these DDE and SDDE.

Digitalising biodiversity: Exploring perceptions on risks and opportunities

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Digitalisation is transforming biodiversity conservation, offering new opportunities for research, governance and public engagement. Herbarium digitisation, for example, enables large‐scale access to plant data, supporting conservation, restoration and sustainable use.

Jacobi rational–Gauss collocation method for Lane–Emden equations of astrophysical significance

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2014
In this paper, a new spectral collocation method is applied to solve Lane–Emden equations on a semi-infinite domain. The method allows us to overcome difficulty in both the nonlinearity and the singularity inherent in such problems.
