Variation in the circularly polarized light reflection of Lomaptera (Scarabaeidae) beetles [PDF]
An extended spectroscopic study on the left-through-left circularly polarised reflection spectra of a large number of beetles from the Australasian Scrabaeidae:Cetoniinae of the Lomaptera genus was undertaken.

A Novel Approach to Unsupervised Change Detection Based on Hybrid Spectral Difference
The most commonly used features in unsupervised change detection are spectral characteristics. Traditional methods describe the degree of the change between two pixels by quantifying the difference in spectral values or spectral shapes (spectral curve ...

Spectral Evolution of an Earth-Like Planet [PDF]
We have developed a characterization of the geological evolution of the Earths atmosphere and surface in order to model the observable spectra of an Earth-like planet through its geological history.

Novel spectral features of nanoelectromechanical systems [PDF]
Electron transport through a quantum dot or single molecule coupled to a quantum oscillator is studied by the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green's function formalism to obtain insight into the quantum dynamics of the electronic and oscillator degrees of freedom.

DiSC: Differential Spectral Clustering of Features
Selecting subsets of features that differentiate between two conditions is a key task in a broad range of scientific domains. In many applications, the features of interest form clusters with similar effects on the data at hand. To recover such clusters we develop DiSC, a data-driven approach for detecting groups of features that differentiate between ...

Modification of spectral features by nonhuman primates [PDF]
AbstractAckermann et al. discuss the lack of evidence for vocal control in nonhuman primates. We suggest that nonhuman primates may be capable of achieving greater vocal control than previously supposed. In support of this assertion, we discuss new evidence that nonhuman primates are capable of modifying spectral features in their vocalizations.

Atomic Spectral Features During Thermonuclear Flashes on Neutron Stars [PDF]
The gravitational redshift measured by Cottam, Paerels and Mendez for the neutron star (NS) in the low-mass X-ray binary EXO 0748-676 depends on the identification of an absorption line during a type I burst as the H$\alpha$ line from hydrogenic Fe.

A Spectral-Based Approach for BCG Signal Content Classification
This paper has two objectives: the first is to generate two binary flags to indicate useful frames permitting the measurement of cardiac and respiratory rates from Ballistocardiogram (BCG) signals—in fact, human body activities during measurements can ...
