The process of associating spectral peaks in emission radiation data with particular charge states of specific elements is a common task in the field of plasma diagnostics in both laboratory and astrophysical settings. Existing techniques for this purpose are often highly manual or can rely heavily on theoretical models and assumptions of plasma ...

Identification of spectral lines of elements using artificial neural networks
Microchemical Journal, 2009Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are relatively new computational tools that have found extensive utilization in solving many complex real-world problems. This paper describes how an ANN can be used to identify the spectral lines of elements. The spectral lines of Cadmium (Cd), Calcium (Ca), Iron (Fe), Lithium (Li), Mercury (Hg), Potassium (K) and ...

Spectral line identification of Comet Halley in March–April 1986
Chinese Astronomy and Astrophysics, 1990Abstract In March–April 1986 when Comet Halley was between 1 and 1.5 AU fron the Sun, we used the 1-metre telescope of Yunnan Observatory and obtained 7 long-slit spectra at a dispersion of 165 A/mm and with a resolution better than 7 A. The results of line identification on 6 of the plates between 3000–5100 A are given here.

Spectral Line Identification Studies of Some Stars with Helium Anomalies
Canadian Journal of Physics, 1975Spectral line identification studies have been carried out at 12 Å/mm for four peculiar helium stars in the Orion Belt Region and two standard stars. HD 36 526, HD 37 140, HD 37 321, and HD 37 479 (σ Orionis E) are compared with the sharp lined MK standards, ν Ononis (B3 V) and γ Lyrae (B9 III).

Improving identification of weak spectral lines in the presence of a strong continuum
Astrophysics and Space Science, 2016Observing faint spectral signals from light sources in the presence of an overwhelming background is a common goal in many aspects of physics and astronomy. By using an optimized selected part of a Fourier interferogram, we demonstrate that observability of such faint signals can be much improved.

To elucidate the reasons why mRNA expression of the LGI1 candidate tumor-suppressor gene was severely reduced in the glioma-derived cell line H4, as demonstrated in a previous study, we performed a cytogenetic analysis of this cell line using conventional methods and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) techniques [spectral karyotyping (SKY ...

A multiple choice greedy algorithm for resolution improvement of spectral lines identification
2012 10th International Symposium on Electronics and Telecommunications, 2012The paper analyses the possibility to improve the resolution of spectral lines identification based on zero-padding Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), by using a sparse vector estimation technique. A variant of the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) algorithm called ‘Multiple Choice OMP (MCOMP)’ is proposed. This algorithm considers the difficulty arisen

Atomic structure calculations and identification of EUV and SXR spectral lines in Sr XXX
Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2015Abstract We report an extensive theoretical study of atomic data for Sr XXX in a wide range with L-shell electron excitations to the M-shell. We have calculated energy levels, wave-function compositions and lifetimes for lowest 113 fine structure levels and wavelengths of an extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) and soft X-ray (SXR) transitions. We have employed

A study of spectral line identifications in perseid meteor spectra
1961A detailed lisl of spectral line idenlifirations is derived from the study of five Perseid meteor spectra. A total of 229 features are identified in the region from 3680 A to 8710 A. lt is shown that lines of N II, O II, and Sr II are present, and probably also lines of Sr I, Ba I, and Ba II, in addition to lines of other atoms and ions previously ...

Spectral line shape identification with continuous wavelet transform
2006A lot of methods that allow analyzing of complex contours are known. In the case of the analytical type of the peak is known the least squares method is usually used. Nevertheless, if the noise level is high enough, LSM method can't be used because of the large distortions of the results.
